What does the FA pool for OL look like this year?

Hudson who is coming off of an injury is our only center (and should be playing guard) and Lilja retired. To be honest neither Asamoah or Allen played particularly great this year. Donald Stephenson is raw as hell and then you have Albert's contract status. This team is going to need 2-3 more OL IMO.

So who's out there in FA that this team could pick up?

Ace Gunner 01-05-2013 06:01 AM

I disagree. I think there is legit concern, but this OL is the best the Chiefs have fielded since the wheels came off. Hudson needs to get better, all of them do, but this team needs back ups more than starters at this point.

WCO runs similar zone schemes that this OL is already familiar with. Eric shitstain Winston needs to be replaced, so the OT position is questionable, but I like Stephenson's abilities and maybe he can switch to RT and they keep Albert.

The OG's are young, need to get better. Andy Reid is good with OL so we should see a fairly solid OL this coming season.

pretty decent selection, a few high priced guys all the way down to some proven veterans decently cheap

hopefully we don't go sign the next Damien McIntosh

Well, I expect we'll sign or franchise Albert. Hudson should be fine next year. I like Asamoah and expect huge improvement in his game next year, and he wasn't terrible this year. We should expect to have to replace Lilja, but I expect WINston will play better next year under a new regime.

This team overall will play better by default from just having a REAL coaching staff.

Albert FA Hudson Asomoah Winston

I dont think we need to break the bank. Andy can identify good OL FAs. His first big FA was Jon Runyan. That worked out great. Heres to hoping he gets a good class of FAs

Pasta Little Brioni 01-05-2013 07:45 AM

Resign Albert and the starters are fine IMO. The team ran the ball at will against teams that knew they were running for ****'s sake. They do need more depth though.

Like the defense, a better QB and the attitude adjustment that comes with a new administration should mean better line play.

I actually think this last season was awesome for us, and not just because we cleaned house and got the first pick. The 2012 season proved that Charles and Berry and back to 100% - no question marks about them headed into next season. 2012 also allowed us to get guys like Stephenson and Allen some playing time. That experience is priceless. They will improve.

Hundson is young and unproven at center, we need to address this position in the draft or FA. If we find a gem, Hudson becomes an incredible backup, otherwise we just need depth sitting behind him.
We are set at guard. I love Allen and Asomoah.
Winston will be fine at RT. I would resign Albert because don't think he's going to break the bank in this market this year, and it allows us to address positions like QB and CB at the top of the draft.

Albert FA Hudson Asomoah Winston

agreed....plus a real QB

We don't likely need a SINGLE offensive linemen if we re-sign Albert.

The line is one of the only units on the team with depth.
