Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver and.....Die Antwoord!? |
I want to see this.
People nit pick his politics in his films but he's consistently had themes dealing with our progress in technology combined with our lack of progress in morality/ethics. Our toys evolving faster than we are... |
Shouldn't it be called Short Circuit 3?

Will rent. District 9 was better than I expected.
|
Can't wait. And I'd bet anything Neil gets to direct the next Aliens film.
|
Do NOT search that creepy chick's music. I wanted to boot my cat out the window from the sounds she was making, because I thought the noises were coming from him.

I've seen far too many terrible 80's movies. Immediately thought of this.

Love me some Die Antwoord.. They are some artistic mother****ers. Will be interesting to see how they do at acting. |

Of the two "Hugh Jackman in a movie about robots" movies, this one looks like the one to see... might end up catching this on a matinee soon.
I pay exactly O attention to rotten tomatoes, they're always trashing movies I enjoyed. Most of their reviewers are some of the most pretentious douchebags I've ever had the displeasure of reading. |
It's funny that in every review I read, Ninja and Yolandi seem to be the highlights.

That's all rotten tomatoes is: the average of all the professional reviews printed in newspapers/online. |
This guys career has gone south quick. If he screws up the Alien franchise, it's probably over for him.

Depending on the money Chappie makes I think he's going to be making movies for awhile. |
[QUOTE=Numbah One;11363264]So you don't value reviews at all?
That's all rotten tomatoes is: the average of all the professional reviews printed in newspapers/online.[/QUOTE Movie critics annoy the hell out of me, for every time they're right, they're wrong two other times IMO. I've read plenty of fairly scathing reviews about awesome flicks like Birdman and Interstellar, just to name two recent examples... movie critics like the smell of their own shit. |
Quote:
While I want to see Chappie, it doesn't bode well that so many people dislike it. |
Number Five is Alive!
|
Rotten Tomatoes panned the shit out of Netflix's Marco Polo. I quite enjoyed it. I don't completely dismiss critics, but a lot of them are pretentious douchebags.
|
The first clue that it might not be good was the early March release.

From what I have found, it sounds like everyone wanted this to be a live version of the Iron Giant, but it is anything but. |
Would smash Yolandi.

Critics are too often guilty of snobbery, like they almost dont feel like they're doing their jobs if they dont say something bad about almost anything... they're the bigshot Broadway critic from Birdman, they're the same kind of people that kept KISS from the rock hall of fame for so long, etc. IMO. |

I'm a recovering critic, so I'm probably biased. The problem, as I see it, is knowledge and studying. The more you know, the more problems you see. |
Quote:
But Roger Ebert wrote several Russ Meyer movies, so they're all hypocrites to some degree is what I'm saying. Anyway, I have rarely used critical acclaim to decide which movies I see... if the subject matter and trailer looks good, chances are I'm going to like it. |

Good flick. It was obviously Faveau's therapy for his critics. I thought it was interesting |
Quote:
Yeah, I really enjoyed it. Fun. |

How is Die Antwoord in the film? Or do they do the standard poor S. Africian motto. |

My response was to the question if I'd seen Chef. I haven't seen Chappie. |
Great show!!
We enjoyed it. |
Ok. I enjoyed it but did not like the ending.

I appreciate that, thanks. Not really. I travel for work quite a bit, and it's gotta be a pretty darn good movie for me to go to the theater nowadays. I catch a lot once they come to video now. |

You should do a year end top 10 thread or just a general movie thread every now and then. Would enjoy! |

Their "music" is terrible. Tear. Rubble. Calling them "gawd awful" is an insult to gawd awful things everywhere. |
Movie is way better than the reviews. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
|
What's up with Jackmans mullet?
|
RedLetterMedia hated all over it.
I don't always agree with them but I do more often than not. Shame. I guess I'll wait for Netflix... |
It's worth seeing in the theater.
It's better than Elysium but that was strangely better reviewed. |
