JMO.

Dayton made the point that most teams won't cut any catchers loose until the end of Spring training in case of injuries. I think they'll look to pick somebody up.

Could be. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have a real vet handling the pitchers in the interim if they go that direction I suppose.

Jesus, that seems like an eternity! I guess better to be safe than sorry with a young, just signed guy.

Haven't payed enough attention to spring training, so what are we doing? Pitching like shit?

So he's out until at least June, which will likely end up being the All-Star break. Then he's transitioning to fresh/soph status? Basically a lost year.

Damnit.

This.

Can someone do a Nancy Kerrigan on Jason Kendall before he gets any ideas?

Wow. Thanks for that. First a ****ing #15 seed and now you plant the possibility of Yuni + Kendall.

Mother**** you, CalChief. :(

Jon Heyman is reporting that the Royals have made an offer to Ivan Rodriguez, but Pudge hasn't decided if he wants to accept it yet.

Cain is having one hell of a great spring. He's now batting .500, tonight he's 1/1 with a walk and a double. Starters aren't done yet, the Royals have a late game tonight.

I'm trying to ignore him because I don't want to dream about what a CF of this potential caliber could mean to this team.

alnorth 03-17-2012 09:20 PM

Before anyone asks, Cain doesn't have anywhere close to a full year of service. He's ours through at least the end of 2017, just like Hosmer and Moose.

alnorth 03-17-2012 09:24 PM

Yost has bumped Cain up to the #2 spot in tonight's lineup. Top of the 5th is starting now, probably last inning for the starters. I'll keep track of what they do here in this half of this inning.

Escobar grounds out (bunt) to catcher
Gordon strikes out (looking)
Cain strikes out (looking)

Welp, that was anticlimactic. According to the radio, strike 3 on Cain was questionable, could have been ball 4

Would be a perfect spot for him if his spring is what he really is. Lineups don't matter much, but the best three hitters on the team should come up in the first inning, which is why I've long advocated Billllaaayy in the two spot, speed be damned.

By the time his contract is up we'll know what we have in Starling.

Starters are done. Chen was pretty bad, but hopefully he was just working on stuff.

Chen 3IP 5R 5ER 0BB 2K 1HR

Gordon 1/3, 2K
Cain 1/2, 1BB, 1K (1 double)
Hosmer 0/3
Butler 1/3, 1K
Francoeur 2/3
Moustakas 0/3, 3K (great, he would have been a contender for the golden sombrero if he wasn't pulled)
Betancourt 0/2
Pena 1/2
Escobar 1/2
