That movie was cheesy and hokey as hell, but the people in it were great. The main guy was also in North and South.

BTW, KCTatoo,
The Jerk was a 70s movie (1979). ;)

Frosty 12-08-2012 12:15 PM

Would Real Genius and Big Trouble In Little China be considered unsung?

How about UHF?

Casual Sex? is pretty funny and you don't hear much about it.

Secret Admirer was pretty funny.
Once Bitten - Jim Carrey becomes a vampire

Frosty 12-08-2012 12:39 PM

Running Scared is another favorite 80's comedy. They tried to turn Billy Crystal into an action star.

Unsung or not, Big Trouble In Little China and Midnight Run are probably my favorite 80's comedies (looking at my list, it appears that I favor action comedies).

One of the top 80's comedies is supposed to be A Fish Called Wanda. Even though I am a Monty Python fan, I didn't find it funny at all. The same holds true for The Blues Brothers. I never actually saw it until last year and didn't care for it. I think it might be one of those "you had to be there" deals.

RJ 12-08-2012 08:16 PM

Anyone remember the movie "After Hours"? It's a Martin Scorcese comedy (dark comedy, I suppose) about a very ordinary guy in New York who goes out to meet a girl he doesn't really know, then loses his keys and his wallet and spends the rest of the evening just trying to find a way to get back home. It's a great movie that didn't get much attention, probably because the humor and the characters were definitely offbeat. Worth watching, especially for anyone who really lived the 80's.
