The film could have been 30 mins longer without dragging.

If you want more seal team goodness, read No Easy Day if you haven't already. It covers the raid step by step, written by a member of the team that was right there when Osama bit it. It also covers some other operations that the author was a part of.

I finally saw this film. It's a masterful piece of filmmaking that challenged me personally and morally.

Waterboarding? **** 'em.

Kill "innocent" women during the raid? **** them, too.

Kill UBL? **** YEAH.

But all throughout, I kept thinking about the trillions of dollars spent in Iraq and Afghanistan. Taking off my stinkin' flip flops (yes, flip flops) at the airport when I travel. The countless and needless deaths and amputees that have come home in the past twelve years.

I'm glad he's dead but I can't help but think think that America is Ahab (irony at its finest) and UBL the white whale.

Good analogy.

I think it's an analogy based on the misconception that bin Laden was the focus of the GWoT. The fact is that his relevance had waned considerably by the time our raid took him out. And even with his demise, the importance of an ongoing strategy for dealing with radical Islamists using a full spectrum of tools (including military power where appropriate) remains undiminished.
