It's a shame this supposed Rams/Redskins isn't going to happen until draft day. It would make this thing far more accurate.

As long as Rams Fan takes Blackmon it will go pretty close to accurate Imo.

I'll be around. Should be a pretty slow week so I'll be in the office.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 12:03 AM

I think the Colts go for a WR who doesn't have elite speed.

Right, Pest? That sure warrants a #1 overall pick.

(Right off the bat -- picking fights.)

Sfeihc 03-05-2012 07:42 AM

This year will be a bit different without Hamas, Floppy, OTW and yes even Mecca. However, the show must go on....

Direckshun 03-05-2012 09:19 AM

Bo's Pelini is on the clock.

While we wait for him to select Luck, who should the Rams take?

I'd take Kalil over Blackmon. But the Rams desperately need receiver help, and that'd make three consecutive years they've taken a tackle.

Lono 03-05-2012 09:20 AM

I'd take Blackmon for sure.

DaKCMan AP 03-05-2012 09:23 AM

Blackmon. Saffold started at LT all last year. With a full offseason & camp he should remain there while they upgrade their awful WR position.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 09:25 AM

We need Rams Fan in here. I want to personally negotiate a trade on behalf of KC for that #2 overall pick.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 09:50 AM

**** it.

My early round big board.

Spoiler!

I'm a big believer in finding other solutions for high frequency/low return draft spots. The Chiefs never did find themselves a truly dominant DT in the Vermeil era. Doesn't matter. Take the loss and move on. Yes, there are still holes, but you've at least still acquired first round talent for the position. Try to make it work for another year, or fix it in free agency.

The Lions desperately needed offensive line help this previous draft so they could keep Matt Stafford upright. What did they do? Draft a bunch of playmakers. And they never really spent any draft picks on the position recently apart from Cherilus.

I guess that bust Cherilus and their older Brandon Albert counterpart Jeff Backus actually weren't so bad after all.

RealSNR 03-05-2012 10:06 AM

Also, that's with LeShoure being injured all year. That's a 2nd rounder that had no impact whatsoever.

Had the Lions drafted a tackle at that spot, would they have shored up the line much better, and might Stafford have avoided some hits? Possibly. But also consider this:

If I had three wheels, I would be a tricycle, would I not?

DJ's left nut 03-05-2012 10:15 AM

Browns and Bucs, lemme know before you make your pick; I may be interested in moving up to 4 or 5 from 9.

RealSNR 03-05-2012 10:22 AM

Wait, the same rules apply about not trading draft picks, yes?

Because here I've been planning on sitting on my ass with Seattle's #12, but they need a QB as badly as the Chiefs do.

ChiefsCountry 03-05-2012 10:35 AM

Yeah no trades are allowed.

Well its time for the 2012 ChiefsPlanet Mock Draft to begin.

The Indianapolis Colts and billay are on the clock.

By the way Rams Fan's PM his pick so we can keep on moving along when billay shows up.

I'd be okay with just skipping billay anyway since we know what the pick is going to be.

If he selects any other player in existence, he should be booted, BCF style.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 12:12 PM

"After bringing back Manning, the Colts need help along the interior of their line, so they pick David DeCastro first overall from Stanford."

I think the colts view ILB as a bigger priority. They should probably draft Kuechly.

Welcome to the 2012 Chiefsplanet Mock Draft.

Before I make my selection I'd like to thank everyone involved who makes this so much fun every year. Alright let's get down to business.

With the first pick in the Chiefsplanet NFL Mock Draft:

Colts Select: Andrew Luck

This pick really doesn't need any explanation.

ChiefsCountry 03-05-2012 12:21 PM

I got Rams Fan's pick via PM to keep this train a rolling:

With the 2nd pick, the St. Louis Rams draft Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State.

Marco Polo 03-05-2012 12:29 PM

With the 3rd pick, the Minnesota Vikings turn a weakness into a strength by selecting their top non-QB on their entire draft board.

The Minnesota Vikings select Matt Kalil, OT, Southern California.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 12:30 PM

This is going to sound crazy, but I'd draft RG3 if I were the Vikings.

Don't give a shit about Ponder.

I feel like I am watching this thread as if it is the 2012 NFL Draft. Not a mock.

RealSNR 03-05-2012 12:46 PM

We now go to Suzy Kolber, who is with RGIII as he waits to receive a phone call. It's a pity for RGIII that Suzy is a raging barren lesbian, because he could really get his flirt on in the time it will take for him to be drafted.

DBoweShow 03-05-2012 12:50 PM

We are now showing a split-screen live clip, on one side from One Arrowhead Drive where Scott Pioli is on one line, and on the other side is RG3 being handed a Chief's hat. Looks like the Chief's made the move for the talented young QB out of Baylor.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 12:53 PM

We're hearing reports that the Browns turned down several offers because the Chiefs, in addition to this year's first and next year's first, were offering the Browns quarterback Matt Cassel.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 12:57 PM

Cassel will apparently serve as depth behind Colt McCoy.

DaKCMan AP 03-05-2012 01:05 PM

The Cleveland Browns (the 1st of DaKCMan AP's 2012 CB combo) need help in a lot of areas. Peyton Hillis will not return to the team and the only RBs currently on the roster are Chris Ogbonnaya and Montario Hardesty. In 2011 the Browns offense ranked 29th in yards, 30th in points, and a pathetic 28th in rush offense. Add to that possibly the best pro prospect at RB since Adrian Peterson available in Trent Richardson and this pick should be automatic, right?

Right?

This league is a QB centric league. You either have a franchise guy and are a contender year in and year out - or you don't. And if you don't, no matter what other weaknesses your team has, if you have the opportunity to acquire one - you do it. Additionally, the CP Mock Cleveland Browns GM (who is Awesome, by the way) ardently believes RB is a commodity position that can be found late in drafts or undrafted (Arian Foster, Priest Holmes, Willie Parker, Michael Turner, Terrell Davis, Fred Jackson, Jamal Anderson, Ahmad Bradshaw, etc. anyone?).

Colt McCoy will be an excellent backup to the future of the Cleveland Browns franchise.

With the 4th pick in the 2012 CP Mock, the Cleveland Browns select Robert Lee Griffin III, QB, Baylor University.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 01:11 PM

I'd like to get through the first 15 picks are so by the end of the night.

Things aren't going to get interesting until then.

Sfeihc 03-05-2012 01:33 PM

With the fifth pick in the 2012 CP Mock the Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU.

The Bucs need alot of help and with the status of the Jayhawk Jailbird in serious doubt and Ronde Barber older than dirt taking Claiborne is an easy choice.

Remember to PM the next GM

Color me intrigued.

As the Jags GM, I'd be supremely interested in trading down.

I wanted Maurice Claiborne at 5.

Gotta get some defense up in here...

(guess I spelled his name wrong...don't care)

Don't give a shit about Ponder.

True, but there is NO way RG3 even gets to the Vikings. Wanted to be as realistic as possible since we aren't doing trades.

Archie Bunker 03-05-2012 02:15 PM

Pretty much have no choice but to reach a little here. I think he fits what Shanahan likes in a QB.

Washington Redskins select Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M

DeezNutz 03-05-2012 02:18 PM

Christian Ponder, QB, A&M.

ChiefsCountry 03-05-2012 03:19 PM

Look who is holding the mock draft up right now.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 04:16 PM

Well, I picked this team because I knew they would be a challenge.

The Jags are just in a historically impossible spot at #7. It's miserable.

The value positions at this point are at OT, RB, and OG. And with the exception of right tackle, the Jags are set here.

As for the pieces the Jags do need... It's too low for Blackmon. Too high for Floyd. Too low for Kalil. Too high for Reiff.

Any pick for the Jaguars at this point is, by default, a reach. There are no playmakers on offense I like enough to take here. If I'm the Jags GM, I make the biggest play I can for Vincent Jackson, because Blaine Gabbert, shitty as he is, is alone out there.

There are some playmakers on defense that I love, however. I think this team badly needs some corners, and Kirkpatrick is the perfect zone corner for this team. But I don't think zone corners demand this kind of pick, either.

So I'm going to with who I think will be the best passrusher to emerge from this draft. The Jaguars select DE Melvin Ingram from South Carolina.

The Jags now have a defensive line of

DE: Jeremy Mincey
3T: Tyson Alualu
NT: Terrance Knighton
DE: Melvin Ingram

That is going to take as much pressure off Ingram as possible. And in turn, take this already-stout Jaguars defense to Top 5 territory, assuming we make the right acquisitions at the corner position.

The 'Phins are on the clock.

In related news.... A DOLPHIN WEARING A HELMET??? SERIOUSLY???

Direckshun 03-05-2012 04:23 PM

I think this has to be a defensive lineman for the Dolphins.

You can't go from a 3-4 to a 4-3 and not make investmenst along the DL.

RealSNR 03-05-2012 04:36 PM

Thanks, Archie. Pest and I can now feel good about settling for fatties on the offensive line now that Tannehill is gone.

Sorry, I meant he started his entire rookie year.

Direckshun 03-05-2012 06:46 PM

I vote we eject BossChief from this mock and all future mocks.

RealSNR 03-05-2012 06:53 PM

ChiefsCountry, just give him Marvin McNutt and let's move on. I'd like to make my pick before tomorrow afternoon, when I'm pretty busy.

DeezNutz 03-05-2012 06:55 PM

Long has been underperforming, so Reiff makes a great deal of sense here. /BossEye

Titty Meat 03-05-2012 08:40 PM

He's trying to trade the pick for Stanzi.

O.city 03-05-2012 08:56 PM

So how long does Boss have to make a pick?

DJ's left nut 03-05-2012 09:54 PM

Dammit, Boss - just get your ass in here and take my !@#$ing guy already.

Who's your guy? Riley Reiff or Marvin McNutt?

Sfeihc 03-05-2012 10:11 PM

BossChief has until 3:15AM. 12 hours from the previous pick is the rule in the 1st post. Not like him to miss the fun. Hopefully all is okay and he picks and doesn't go full Mecca on us.

RealSNR 03-05-2012 10:50 PM

Was it 12 hours last year as well? I thought we had 24 last year?

Boss was on CP while ago, he made a few posts. Maybe he forgot?

The Franchise 03-05-2012 10:57 PM

Thank God he only has one pick this round.
