Been a great vacation so far. Helped my youngest brother put new siding on his house while the Chefs filled thier pants Sunday. My next youngest brother and I then cleaned up moms garden this morning then cleaned out and organized her garage. Cook out and beers tonight. Done some cooking. Slept late. Dame near perfect vaca thus far.

I doubt it heh. I can't bring myself to even root for SF so I pretty much am over baseball for the year. Hate NY, don't like the Tigers. This post season couldn't be less interesting from this point on.

Sounds like a fine vacation, much like mine the third week of september... no big plans... good family time, sleep late, plenty of outdoors time, eat good, tie on a few good ones in between.

The grind tonight is having a few beers, watching MNF and chillin on CP. Tomorrow we rake the walnuts up and take them to an old man then mow the yard. Then probably drink more.

Well I went to the Doc today and he told me to come back in 2 weeks so I am on vacation too

I'm going to slack at work tomorrow, just so i dont feel so jealous.

And on top of all this, the boss lady put in her notice today...so I'm going to be without a manager for an undetermined amount of time...and I still don't know when the HUD inspection is and therefore have no ****ing clue when I'll be able to take my time off, so yeah, mother**** your vacation.

FWIW I had such a busy spring and summer that if I didn't take some time off now I was going to kill a few people.

Well while you do that I'm having about my 10th beer of the day and have no bedtime.

Schedule some time off. If they don't have you at a time of need they'll realize how much they need you. Besides you deserve your vacation anyway. Don't let them take advantage of you by "being needy."

Eh, it's not really them being "needy", these are all circumstances beyond the company's control and I'm trying to work with them on it. But my patience is wearing thin.

I gotcha. Just take the time off you have coming. It's yours and you deserve it. I have another week to use this year and I will take it.

Plenty. Tons of ponds and the big Mission lake (there's a little mission lake too) is a mile long.

Thanks, I am. I don't take exotic vacations where I get all inclusive food and drinks and dancing girls... I tend to take them where I can help put up siding and clean moms garage lol.

Not quite... although they did dredge it 2 years ago. Mission lake, Horton KS is actually a big lake with good camping and fishing. I'm seriously thinking about applying for the lake caretaker job in a year and a half. Get a little house on the lake to live in if you want it. The crazy thing is that that job is open right now but I'm not ready to move back here yet.

Live in the little yellow house on the lake rent free... if you want. Upkeep of the grounds... Hickory Point park, volleyball courts, scout camp, shelter houses and grounds, camping area's, spillway, little lake, some work on the golf course... a lot of mowing, keeping docks in good shape, building new docks, checking bouys/water levels, clear the grounds for 4th of july fireworks. Take camper fees and make assignments... etc.

It's a lake caretaker job and everything that entails. I think the official title is Director of Horton Parks and Recreation. There's like 2 other small parks in town. The newspaper said applications were being taken this month because the former Director resigned. I don't know anything more. No idea of the pay. I just know kiddo has a year and a half of high school left and I'm not leaving until she goes to college.

As long as it's big enough to kill a charging cougar or bobcat it'll do. We have those come around after dark here on the edge of town so you need to take care when you go outside at night. They're mostly afraid of the house lights but you never know... if they're hungry enough they can come in too close. Just be ready and you'll be fine.

I would think that the sawed off 12 gauge would do the trick, but I'm more accurate w/ my bow.

We live in Kansas... we have guns loaded about every 30 feet or one on us. This is how we like it. Less people, more wildlife, less problems. The wildlife is much less a problem than stupid people.
