I put this in the media section, because people already bitch about grieving the deceased not in their immediate orbit in the main lounge, and he's not a household name and has been out of the public eye for a while.

But, if we're in the golden age of TV now, his work in the 70s and 80s was the major reason any of it was worth a shit.

Started MTM with former wife Mary Tyler Moore, and was NBC Chairman for pretty much the entirety of their pre-Friends//Seinfeld premiere years.

If I'm not mistaken, he was the man having lunch with Mary at a downtown restaurant during the opening titles of MTM in its later seasons.
