Marco Polo on Netflix...
Did I miss a thread for this? Just released season one.
<iframe src="//www.youtube.com/embed/hB-ltNasHVw" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" width="560"></iframe> If nothing else, naked chicks with swords make it worth a try. Also, as there is only one white-guy, it should have Direckshun's full endorsement and seal of approval. |
Looks good, will check it out this evening.

Reviews are horrendous at best.

16% Critics Score 83% Audience Score Seems like a pretty wide gap so far? Will definitely watch the first episode, but no real expectations. |

I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit, although it was pretty disjointed as they tried to introduce so many characters and jump into multiple plots all at once. Seemed like a rather rushed introduction. No real violence to speak of, and the the T&A was milder than most HBO productions.
Will definitely check out episode two tomorrow. Thought the sets and costumes were great. Again, rushed and disjointed, but intrigued to see if it smooths out. Lots of potential. |
Well, so far I've watched through episode 7.
I guess I disagree with the critics. These days I very rarely watch anything without doing something else. I've actually been able to watch this without looking for something additional to occupy my time. Don't expect Game of Thrones (as it seems most of the critics were), and I don't think you'll be too disappointed. |
Was not impressed at all. Made on the cheap. Geared towards the Chinese market. Acting was bad, no good titties, few skulls being split open, few huge choreographed battles.
Should have been way better in quality and scope. |

It's very meh. Gonna stop watching.

This is a character driven series, not an action series. It is an above average show that has done a pretty good job of showing the changes that Marco has undergone since being left with the Khan. I enjoyed it, but I went in without expecting it to be GoT.
If it catches on well enough they will probably throw more money at it for the next season. Kublai never really stops warring for a few decades, and at one point has a navy of 4000+ ships try to invade Japan. Overall it will be an average show that is good but never great. |
The story is kind of weak and the plot mechanics to keep the story moving forward are flawed and leave a lot to be desired. However, the generous amounts of Titties and solid amount Kung Fu = Win! Its a fun show and if you take it at that, its very enjoyable.

I watched the entire season in a weekend. I thought it was pretty damn good. No, it isn't Game of Thrones. And I don't think it's trying to be.
It's historical fiction, and seems to be less about Marco Polo and more about Kublai Khan. Which is fine by me. I don't know what the critics who panned this were looking for, but **** em. Probably the same stick-up-their-ass pretentious douchebags that loved The Royal Tenenbaums. |
Watched it, thought the quality was much better after the first episode or so. If they do a season two, I'll definitely watch it. I'd give it a 7.5/10. Much better than the vast majority of what network TV is doing these days.

I'm up to episode 3. Im enjoying it.
