Potential Secret Weapon to Beat Pats...

Shockingly, Bernard Pollard is only 33 years old. The Chiefs should sign him and play him vs the Pats. Intimidation and karma factors alone would be invaluable. :hmmm:

The Pollard Connection

Beginning in 2008, while Pollard was with the Kansas City Chiefs, a series of events began to take place that would alter the course of four Patriots' seasons.

During the first week of the 2008 season, Pollard was knocked to the ground while trying to sack Tom Brady. On the ground, Pollard lunged at Brady’s legs, connecting his red Chiefs helmet to Brady’s left knee and tearing the quarterback’s anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments. Brady’s season was prematurely over.

In 2009, while Pollard was with the Houston Texans, Brady threw a pass to Wes Welker to the short left side of the field, which he then took up the field. Pollard closed in on Welker fast, forcing the diminutive receiver to cut to his right, possibly faster than he anticipated. His left plant foot slipped and he tore his ACL and MCL, missing the playoffs that year.

In the AFC Championship Game following the 2011 season, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski caught a pass of about 20 yards with Pollard in coverage. Pollard wrapped Gronkowski up to take him to the ground. As Gronkowski hit the turf, Pollard’s right thigh forcefully landed on Gronkowski’s left ankle. Gronkowski suffered a high ankle sprain. Gronkowski played in the Super Bowl two weeks later, but the injury helped limit him to just two catches for 26 yards.

In the fourth quarter of the 2012 AFC Championship Game, as the Patriots were driving in an attempt to tie the game, Pollard launched a direct helmet-to-helmet hit which concussed running back Stevan Ridley. Ridley immediately lost consciousness and control of the ball, which was scooped up by the Ravens to take over possession, while wide receiver Brandon Lloyd tended to his fallen teammate. This sealed the Ravens' victory, advancing them to Super Bowl XLVII, in which they defeated the San Francisco 49ers. Though Stevan Ridley recovered in time to play in the 2013 NFL season, he was unable to retain his job as a starter, and has been released by five different NFL teams since 2013.

Pollards rookie season was amazing from what I remember.
What did he have like 5 blocked punts/FG's?
I think he had a decent amount of INT's too. He eventually went to shit.

65TossPowerTrap 10-11-2018 12:49 PM

I still blame him for Cassel coming to KC goddamn domino effect

carcosa 10-11-2018 12:50 PM

I am 100% on board

Best22 10-11-2018 12:51 PM

"Secret weapon" my ass

We have Mahomes. That's all we need, and there's nothing secret about him. No hiding anymore

If he can't beat the old man Brady straight up one of these days, then we got the wrong guy.

If Pollard doesn't snap Brady's leg KC never gets Cassel
If Harrison does not injure Green's leg Warner never takes over the Rams and KC get him instead of Green when DV comes to KC.

Two separate safetys on two different team affecting KC Chiefs' history.

That's on Pioli, not Pollard. Pioli was in love with Cassel and would have signed him anyway. Pioli wanted to retain his status as the only GM to sign a starting QB who never started a game in college. :cuss:

It would be funny to sign for a one game contract just for the coin toss.

I like that attitude, but Mahomes doesn't play defense, contrary to local lore. :)

KChiefs1 10-11-2018 12:58 PM

I’d sign him up just to stand at the line of scrimmage yelling “I’m coming to break your leg Tommy” “Remember me bitch” & “How’s your ACL Tommy” all night.

Ditto. And have been chastised here because of it.

And most aptly, a Patriot killer. :)

Bernard Pollard unwilliningly helped usher in Matt Cassel, he is guilty by association.

Wrong. Pioli wanted Cassel. Had to retain his status as only GM to sign a starting QB that never got a start in college. Would have happened no matter what. As much a certainty as assistant coaches not picking up a candy bar wrapper in a back staircase.

It's pretty sad that Pollard and Page would be massive upgrades at safety for this team.

At their present age, absolutely it is sad. The Chiefs seemed to have a knack for finding good safety play from guys like Pollard, Page, Greg Wesley, Sammy Knight, Abdullah, Et al. But lately finding good play at the position seems to be cursed. (I applaud them for trying to get Earl Thomas, but again, cursed.)

**** Pollard.

He's 100% responsible for the Matt Cassel era in KC.

I will always believe that Pioli was sent here to destroy the team. He basically did the same shit to the Chiefs that I would do to Denver if somebody made me their GM.

All I know is that this thread is bad juju.

If anything happens to Mahomes I'm coming back here and calling for Tom's head.

ROYC75 10-11-2018 02:27 PM

Is this what we have become?

To be known as a team celebrating injuries or wishing that they happen?

:shake:

Abdullah is still pretty young, if I remember correctly....

It is only acceptable under extreme circumstances (Brady, Roethlisberger, Elway falling out of his luxury box and breaking his neck, etc)

I wish that was true, but this week, it isn't. We need defense to really step the hell up. Play way above their talent level.

Tru dat. We saw flashes last week, hopefully they can build on that.

That's an awesome post right there. Forgot all about that until just now.

RaidersOftheCellar 10-11-2018 05:13 PM

Pollard HATED those cheating bastards.

htismaqe 10-11-2018 05:55 PM

Pollard would be a LB in this defense.
