PFF and Football Outsiders O Line Review - By The Numbers
http://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2018/...ffensive-line/
A few surprises here... No one has ever confused Fisher with Willie Roaf, but his numbers were even worse than I anticipated Schwartz coming in roughly middle of the pack giving up pressures Doc Tardif tied for fewest pressure among guards with the Cowboys Zack Martin, you gotta love that Canadian mfer - - - Here is where it gets weird, according to their numbers, hang onto your hats... the Chiefs were #1 in power run blocking, huhwha? |
I'd like to see them do A LOT more zone blocking runs next year. Hunt is a boss when they're doing that.

Middle of the pack in pass pro is NOT where I expected to see him at all, it makes me question all of the PFF and company grading systems... yet they turn around and confirm what my eyes have been telling me about Tardif, that he has become top shelf It also kinda bugs me that they dont have across the league rankings for someone like Fulton, who surely started more than enough games to qualify for that kind of assessment |

I saw it, apparently PFF & Football Outsiders saw it but most Chiefs fans nor the Pro Football Writer's saw it as he was named 2nd Team All Pro. Guys will generally make the Pro Bowl based off of reputation but it's rare to see the Pro Football Writer's think he was better than his performance. |
Schwartz had a an early season patch of less than decent pass pro games. That's just going off of memory, for me. I remember early on being not so happy with his pass pro. Called him sluggish and lacking movement skill.
He turned that around pretty well. That's just from my memory of it, Easy 6. |

I wonder how much that affected Schwartz' performance.. not that I would argue too much with you, Dane, about Mitch having dropped off, its just hard to figure because its not like he is some geezer And Sandy, you're right about his early season pass-pro, everyone was talking about it, he was getting beat early and often the first few games He has never struck me as a big brawling hoss who is aces in all facets, always seen him as a pass pro specialist who is serviceable in the run game |
nfl.com has LDT down for 11 reg season games.. so missed 4 total... but mostly 5.
|
Really wish we could move on from Fisher now... was saying during the slump this year that he appeared to regress.

I guess I'm good with Fisher because I know solid linemen aren't easy to find, but I'll just be glad when we aren't tied down with his contract anymore and can pursue a replacement. |

Even contract status aside, it seems like there really arent any more Roafs, Ogdens, and Paces out there to be had... oh and that reminds me, you BADLY need a new avatar :D Kinda seems like we've all been so upset with interior play, that we're forgetting that our tackles didnt exactly light it up either... Dane is right, Mitch was lackluster this year and we can only hope it doesnt become a trend But the biggest takeaway from these numbers for me is... how in Gods name did they decide that we were #1 in the power run game? I've read that piece 3 times and it still makes no ****ing sense at all |

Mahomes feels like a different animal though. He won't need as much rigidly competent OL. |

I think Schwartz was the best RT in football for the last 5-6 weeks. He had a rough patch in the middle, much like the team, but he was borderline perfect that last month or so. |

Mitch really did finish strong though, cant complain about that... he rounded back into form |
