yup. taking the raingear. meeting up with baby-brother. taking best friend and his son. hopefully it'll hold off 'til late.
haven't been to an opening day in around 8 years. today was sucking a frickin' downer. but with that being said, still stoked. can't wait.;)

lcarus 04-11-2012 10:02 PM

Wish I could be there. As much as I really don't care about baseball, I loved going to the K.

You never take me anywhere anymore. You're ashamed of me.

CHENZ A! 04-12-2012 08:52 AM

Three day weekend in this bitch.

Dartgod 04-12-2012 09:11 AM

Damn right I'll be there and no rain gear needed. Going on a vendor's dime in a Diamond Suite.

Dayze 04-12-2012 09:13 AM

Royals are already down by 3 runs.

mr. tegu 04-12-2012 09:15 AM

We got this. Go Royals!

gblowfish 04-12-2012 09:25 AM

I've been to a bunch of opening days, but can't go this year. Have to work and save precious vacation days. I'll be with you guys in spirit.

Probably. I can't tell you how many times I've been to a game and our tailgate has run a bit long(about the only benefit of being a last place team), only to walk in at the top of the second and have the Royals losing by multiple runs.

I know man. I try to go to about 3 games per year, and I seriously have been to only probably 3 wins in the last 7 years or so that we've been going.

CHENZ A! 04-12-2012 09:45 AM

I go to a lot of games. We always lose. One year I went to like 12+ at home, 1 in STL, 2 in LA, and saw 2 wins.

Fish 04-12-2012 10:03 AM

I've never really understood the fascination with Opening Day. Expensive tickets, disorganized cluster**** of a stadium, generally sloppy play this early in the year, etc. I've never been to an Opening Day that I ever looked back on and said "Wow, what a great game."

The one when Beltran hit a walk off homer a number of years back was pretty special

We win about 75% of the games I go to. I bought season tickets this year.

I have been to a couple and I like the ones that are also opening the season. But nowadays the season opens three times so even this season probably would not have felt that special. The past opening season ones though have a unique feel, especially for us because we aren't in last place yet at that point and the "anything is possilbe" is still alive and well regarding the season.

DeezNutz 04-12-2012 01:46 PM

Just heard Hochevar's presser. Impressive number of cliches used. No content. All fluff.

I'm right up there with you. I've seen far more wins than loses. I need to get season tickets.

One question: Why don't you go to every home game!?? :cuss:

75% of home games is 60 games then we just need to find about 40 on the road and we are playoff bound :D

Interesting lineup today:

J. Dyson cf
J. Francoeur rf
E. Hosmer 1b
B. Butler dh
A. Gordon lf
Y. Betancourt 2b
M. Moustakas 3b
H. Quintero c
A. Escobar ss

Don't really like Dyson at the top, unless his hot AAA carries over. Just because a player is fast does not mean that he should hit first. All about OBP at the top.

That is a interesting lineup but I like Quintero over pena cause pena cannot be trusted behind the plate

SnakeXJones 04-13-2012 02:13 PM

Whats with Indians bland ass uni's?

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:21 PM

And that's why Betancourt sucks. Absolutely no range.

Meanwhile, vintage Hoch is on display in the first.

petegz28 04-13-2012 02:21 PM

Great ****ing start....JFC, Hoch..try not giving up a ton of runs in the 1st

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:23 PM

Shut the **** up, Rex. This is going to be a long ****ing year unless this POS gets sent down. This can happen to announcers, right?

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:25 PM

FOX broadcast today is pitiful. No count. No gun. No pitch count.

Bambi 04-13-2012 02:25 PM

Rex with the "solid offense behind him"

que?

SnakeXJones 04-13-2012 02:26 PM

petegz28 04-13-2012 02:28 PM

JFC, way to blow the game out of the gate

Deberg_1990 04-13-2012 02:28 PM

This is the Hochaver we all know and love!

Bambi 04-13-2012 02:29 PM

lol, Dyson

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:29 PM

Those two runs are on Dyson. He drifted on the ball and thus was abused.

6-0.

Game over before we even record 3 outs...way to show up for the home opener, Luke, you piece of shit

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:31 PM

Wild pitch.

Someone get out there and rip Hochevar a new one. His job, at this point, is to eat innings and preserve the pen. The game is already likely lost. Do NOT go to the pen, Yost.

Deberg_1990 04-13-2012 02:31 PM

Royals Baseball.......Only we know how to ruin a home opener!

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:31 PM

7-0.

All wheels off.

It feels like this should be way in the past but it doesn't feel like it's way in the past. Because it isn't very much in the past.

Mr. Arrowhead 04-13-2012 02:32 PM

just turned it on, how the **** is it already 7-0

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:32 PM

Rex: This isn't Hochevar's fault.

No bullshit. Not the exact words, but this was the essential statement.

Bambi 04-13-2012 02:33 PM

Time to go to the bar.

**** this.

petegz28 04-13-2012 02:33 PM

7 runs on 8 hits......in the 1st inning....GAME OVER

1adam1238 04-13-2012 02:34 PM

What a bunch of $hit...........damn already.

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:34 PM

The "Our Time" commercials are ringing a bit hollow currently.

Canofbier 04-13-2012 02:34 PM

I guess that the top of the first doesn't qualify as "our time".

Deberg_1990 04-13-2012 02:34 PM

Nobody entertains a crowd quite like the Royals

Fish 04-13-2012 02:38 PM

Yeah, it isn't like he was the pitcher or anything

petegz28 04-13-2012 02:39 PM

Why is Gordon not in the lineup?

petegz28 04-13-2012 02:40 PM

Butler doing his best to end the inning

petegz28 04-13-2012 02:41 PM

K, I hadn't seen the lineup.. I thought with Gordon not leading off he was not in

Demonpenz 04-13-2012 02:41 PM

dang. I was hoping for a different attitude to start the attitude, but they look like they are hungover out there.

Yep. He has to take one for the team now unless this thing gets surprisingly close.

Losing to the A's and Indians ... Leave it to the Royals!

Mr. Arrowhead 04-13-2012 02:57 PM

Hoch is dealing now LMAO

DeezNutz 04-13-2012 02:59 PM

Low leverage = Hoch at his best. Always been that way at both the macro and micro level.

Game out of hand? Dealing. Season essentially over? Dealing. "He's turned the corner!!!"

gblowfish 04-13-2012 03:12 PM

No wonder Ned Yost hates opening day....

ChiTown 04-13-2012 03:18 PM

Let's hope Hochevar is getting this out of his system early. You can't have too many blow up games like this from the top of your rotation. Seriously, what a turd of an opening day inning
