Frustrated Pagano tough on Luck after loss

The Colts were a mess from the beginning Monday night and were ultimately doomed by five turnovers — three Andrew Luck interceptions — in a 20-7 loss to the Jets.

After the game, Colts coach Chuck Pagano didn’t try to hide his frustration with his quarterback and his team as a whole.

“He’s got to take care of the football,” Pagano said in his postgame press conference. “It’s not that hard. It’s not trigonometry.”

The simple math says that the Colts have scored three touchdowns and committed eight turnovers through two games, both losses.

“Can’t turn the damn ball over,” Pagano said.

Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star, who was at the game and at the postgame press conference, wrote that Pagano was “throwing Luck under the bus.”

While the Jets clearly frustrated Luck with a variety of blitzes and sometimes just by simply overpowering them in one-on-one battles in the trenches, Pagano hinted that Luck has to overcome his line’s shortcomings.

“[That has] been the case for three years now, hasn’t it?” Pagano asked. “He should be more than comfortable dealing with it.”

Sounds to me like that bus claimed more than one victim.

Not throwing him under the bus, he's telling the truth. His team is 0-2; would they rather the head coach speak in generalities and show no emotion while mumbling through answers like Edward Brimley?

Quarterbacks are paid several millions of dollars to NOT give the ball to the opposing team. He's holding his precious, delicate genius accountable.

Doesn't excuse the turnovers, but the Colt's OL looks like smashed assholes.

If Luck didn't fall in to Grigg's lap He would have been fired.

who ever has been in charge of Drafting for the Colts is Pioli bad.

n 2001 the Colts had a terrible game against the 49ers. Manning threw 4 or 5 interceptions. In the press conference the head coach Jim Mora went on a rant about how you cant turn the ball over. Said maybe Manning should try throwing the ball to some of our guys. This lead to the now famous "Playoffs?" sound byte. Manning shot back a few days later. The Colts finished 6-10. Mora was fired at the end of the season.

Not saying Luck is manning but this lost is more on Pag and Griggs then Luck.

Chuck would be the head coach at Mudsucker State if not for Luck.

What has the guy built? His O line is in shambles and the defense sucks ass.

Yeah, other than Luck and a few others, that team is void of talent.

Luck sucks, though. It's true. I read it in the game thread last night... :)

do they even have one player from any of their drafts that panned out besides Luck?

that team is filled with old washed up veterans

ILChief 09-22-2015 05:25 AM

I'll gladly trade him Alex Smith for Luck

T.Y, Moncrief and Newsome if you add in the fact they traded a 1st for T-rich its been worst then pioli ever was.

Also Keep in mind they Drafted Dorsett with T.Y and Moncrief on that roster.

Think most of us would be fine with doing a Ricky Williams type deal for Luck lol

What does Pagano expect when you sign two broken down free agents and not fix the o-line...

They drafted both of the TEs the first year. They aren't stars but solid contributors. The Dorsett pick was odd as most teams seem to select a relative need in the first.

They kept the wrong coach
