Yeah and your wife, daughter and mother are waiting.

I'd better hop to it.

Probably wouldn't cost that much, but maybe a couple of hundred, I dunno, depends on who you can find to do it.

If I bought a TV larger than 32", I would consider the extended warranty if the store offers it, for just this reason. (My parents bought a giant LG, 50" or 60", at Brandsmart. They bought the extended warranty. I told them they wasted their money. Until less than a year later, the converter fried. Someone came out, took it apart, ordered a converter, came back in a week, put it in, TV works fine again.)

I'd buy the Samsung C650 rather than the C630, as it has the capability to play Netflix directly through the TV if you have it connected to the internet.

Do not ever do this.

Extended warranties are one of the only ways that stores make up gross margin. It's not your job to needlessly give them money.

Would you buy insurance if you were playing blackjack at $1000 a hand?

Samsung, Visio or Sony.. But honestly if it is a year or under it is under warranty.. If over a year you could probably still get it worked on for free with an email to their corporate office..

I think I bought this TV in May of last year.... from what I have been reading, Sanyo customer service sucks

Funny that would shit out on you in such a short amount of time. I (knocking on serious wood here) have had really good luck with HDTVs, including the Protron 32" that we bought back in 2004.

Of course, the 42" we bought a few months ago is a Sanyo. Now I'm a bit nervous.

This is in the neighborhood of a grand, and won CNET editor's choice award. A couple months ago it was on sale at dell.com for about $1,099. This is what I was going to replace my TV with, and I was about 5 seconds from pulling the trigger on it, but thought I'd wait until my 4 year old 50" Samsung DLP goes belly up for good. It seems like a good value for the money, however, I don't know what's out there now, and 47" is the largest available.
