No but someone did and they (and many other teams as well) passed on him

Therefor, do it.

But it should be met with the expectation that a LT taken with the first overall pick in the entire draft is held to the same as any other positional player. He needs to be expected to be a top 5 player at his position year 1, with the ability to get better.

You have an greatly inflated take on top 5 picks and their first year success.

So you shouldn't expect the first overall pick in teh entire draft, to be a cornerstone player of your franchise and a top player at his position?

Can't really blame him.

He's been part of an organization that has won 25 games in his 5 years here, and he's protected a "Who's Who" of shitty QB's. And they just traded for another one.

Yet true fans defend the OT at #1 idea by saying, "You build a team from the trenches out."

We're giving up the 1.1 for a move that could possibly be a downgrade.

On the offensive. ****ing. line. Who gives a shit?

I'm ready to ****ing bolt this goddamn team after draft day.

He's not that good.

But I'm sure he'll be fine blocking Justin Smith, Calais Campbell and Bruce Irvin 6 times a year.

You shouldn't expect him to be a top 5 player in his first season, which is what you were calling for.

The people defending this are the same idiots deep-throating Pioli for dumping Orton and sticking with Matt Casshole.

It's what has to happen in order for this deal to be considered even a mild success.

It's just like the Tyson Jackson pick. The move isn't going to cause many problems if it doesn't work out, but it's also extremely unlikely that it will actually benefit this team.

Agree to disagree I guess.

At this point I am just going to shrug my shoulders and say,"They better win".

This is where I'm at, exactly.

Quite frankly, I don't give a flying **** about Brendan Albert. The ****er has had five years to separate himself and all he's proven is that he's an 11-15 NFL left tackle that wants to be paid like he's Top Three. He's not.

He'll be 29 years old mid-season and as TBG said, he's has had many body transformations. **** him.

While I'm not thrilled with a left tackle first overall, he'll be a minimum of seven years younger and at least $4 million less per year. I'll be shocked if he's not as effective on the field. And if he's not, Dorsey and Reid won't hear the end of it.

Welcome to the NFL, 2013 style. Youth and small contracts win.

Uh, I don't think he will be blocking those guys, save Irvin. I'd be more worried about Aldon Smith.
