This is my first year doing a league with divisions, and it ****ing sucks lol.

The Franchise 11-27-2012 06:42 PM

Yeah it's sort of crazy, but it's made it more fun. If I miss the playoffs though I'll be pissed!

The Franchise 11-27-2012 06:48 PM

So is it the 4 division winners and then the two next best records?

Yep

Not to derail your thread.....but I'm thinking about switching my money league next year to no divisions. I'm sick and tired of seeing a team get a 1st round bye with a 6-6 record because the rest of their division sucks.

Like this year.....we've got 5 teams from one division making the playoffs.....and 1 team from the other division. That's bullshit.

Do you guys randomize it at the beginning of the year?

Draft order. Evens in one.....odds in the other.

Hmm...I would just randomize it after the draft. Seems the most fair to me.

The Money league I'm in has 16 teams and four divisions. Been around 20 plus years and I've been in for about 7 or 8. Divisions work well for us and we added an extra playoff team to eliminate the bye week for the best teams. It's kind of a handicapped game, but people wanted it for more of a chance to get their $ back.

KurtCobain 11-28-2012 01:04 PM

I'm actually still undefeated. It's crazy. Almost every week I've played the lowest scoring team while I'm the second worst scoring team. Everyone in my league is pissed at my luck. Then last week I played a high scoring matchup and won by 2 points. This may finally be my year.

sedated 11-28-2012 07:02 PM

Ive never been a fan of divisions. Last year we ended up with all the best players on one side and all the crap players on the other. This year we got rid of them.

As for the OP, our last week of the reguar season was kinda nuts. 3rd, 4th, and 6th all lost, letting 5th (me) and 7th punch their tickets to the playoffs. It was a tight race all year - IIRC, with two weeks to go we had four teams at 5-4 and four teams at 4-5 (one at 8-1 and one at 1-8).

I'm actually the opposite.

Only won four games, have outscored the closest team in overall points by one HUNDRED SEVENTY points.

I'm the overall points leader and not making the playoffs.

Every team has their game of the year against me.

Yeah....I talked to the other Commish and we've decided to get rid of divisions in our league. 5 playoff teams this year are from one division. The other team would be 5th at best if he was in the tough division.

DaKCMan AP 11-29-2012 12:48 PM

In my work league I'd have to lose by 83 points this week to not make the playoffs.

Hootie 11-29-2012 04:34 PM

4 money leagues:

#1 seed locked up in 1 ($30 buy in + $15 for points winner take all - which I am in 1st right now)

I'm 7-5 in one with two division guys who have the tiebreaker against me at 6-6 (I play one of them) and two other teams fighting for wild cards at 6-6 where I don't know who wins what...so win and I win my division and am definitely in, lose and it's a wait and see...this is a $75

I'm 6-6 in another sitting in 6th (final spot for playoffs)...so win and I am in but my team is falling apart (2 QB league, no Vick, no Gronk, RB's have been busts...) $75

My last is a $125 buy in and I'm in first at 7-5...2 more regular season weeks, 1 team is 6-6 behind me, I hold the tiebreaker...but I play him in week 14...so I'm sitting pretty in a 12 team, 2 QB league with RGIII and Peyton Manning.

Johnny Vegas 12-04-2012 10:09 AM

just 2 leagues this year. Didn't make the playoffs in one because Big Ben and McFadden went down for the count. Went 5-6 and it was a 12 team $20 buy-in. The other one I'm in I made the playoffs. Its a 10 team $200 buy-in. I went 8-5 and beat the top seed for the final game. I'm going against a stacked team with RG3 leading the way. I beat this guy in regular season by .5 points so I'm pretty nervous to say the least. 1st place gets $1500, 2nd gets $300 and 3rd gets $200. If I beat this guy this week I'm pretty confident that I'm winning it all. The first seed has 4 starters out that would've guaranteed him the win, but now he's struggling.

verbaljitsu 12-04-2012 01:12 PM

20 Leagues total. 10 are Draftmaster leagues. 9 are Head to Head leagues. 1 is a year long points league.

Draftmasters (1st place pays $100, 2nd pays $50, goes till week 16, no waiver wires, best ball lineups): 3 x 1st place, 1 x 2nd, 1 x 3rd, 5 x 6th

Head-to-Head (10 team, playoffs are weeks 15 and 16, Standard scoring, only 15 roster spots, 4 teams make playoffs in each, $100 for 1st, $60 for 2nd, $20 for 3rd):
Clinched playoff in 2, eliminated in 2, currently occupying a playoff spot in 2 - win and in, could theoretically lose in one and still make it.

Head-to-Head (10 team, playoffs week 15/16, .5 PPR, 19 roster spots, 4 teams make playoffs, $400 for 1st, $100 for 2nd): in a playoff spot right now, almost certainly must win this week to keep it. Is a small chance I could lose and make it.

Head-to-Head (12 team, playoffs week 15/16, PPR, 20 roster spots and must start qb, 2rb, 3wr, te, flex, k, dst, 4 teams make playoffs - 2 off of points, 2 off record, double headers each week): In a playoff spot right now. 2nd on points, 3rd off of record. If I win 2 games this week I clinch. If I outscore a certain contender by 6 points I clinch.

Year long points league (16 weeks, PPR, 16 roster spots, only first place pays out, $125): I am in third place, and will probably finish in second. It is unlikely I will win.

Buck 12-04-2012 08:03 PM

I ended up winning in both leagues.

DC.chief 12-07-2012 10:13 AM

I'm in 3 leagues. first place in one and have a bye this week. another I was tied for first all season til I bombed the last two games (**** you matty ice) and i missed the playoffs. Last league its win this week and I'll lock up 3rd of 4th seed and i'm in!

DC.chief 12-07-2012 10:14 AM

Holy shit verb how do you manage 20 leagues?

I did it one year when I was a junior high school...and then I quit fantasy sports for two years.

It was JUST WAY TOO MUCH but I was addicted to drafting.

Hootie 12-07-2012 12:00 PM

this year I'm in 4 pay leagues and 3 casual leagues and I'll be honest, I pretty much neglected my casual leagues (but did make the playoffs in 1 of them)

carlos3652 12-07-2012 01:39 PM

Im in a neighborhood pay league (ESPN) running for some years now.
$100 entry fee, $3 for every waiver transaction. $3 for every trade. (Winner usually takes home $500 or so, 300 for 2nd and 200 for 3rd.

8 teams - 4 make playoffs.

Im in first (tied with another guy @ 10-3, but i have 4 pts more than him) - 2 of my losses are against him this year.

Casual league - yahoo... 6 team playoff, co workers/friends various years also.. I got in on the last day as 3rd, with everyone and their mom with a chance to make it in... i finished 8-5 but 2 weeks ago everyone was at 6-5 or 5-6 with a chance... also the guy that won the division because of a better conference record than me finished 8-5. I played vs him 2x as well and lost.

verbaljitsu 12-09-2012 05:15 PM

I don't find managing 20 teams to be substantially different from managing 2. But in fairness, I'm only managing 10 teams. The 10 draftmaster teams require ZERO management throughout the year.

Sure-Oz 12-09-2012 06:00 PM

The Seattle Seahawks single handedly have beaten me today to knock me out of the playoffs. I have 3 players left to play Andre Johnson Matt Stafford and Steven Ridley.

Before the Cards sucked balls i was down 52-46 against a team with the seahawks d, randall cobb, and wes welker playing.

Needless to say im down 113-46 now and its over. I'm beyond pissed.
