That post I made yesterday about "look at the Royals acting like a major league club." Yeah... nevermind.

Sort of sucks the life right out of you huh?

DeezNutz 11-30-2012 11:15 PM

I would be willing to bet that Hoch is DFA during '13.

alnorth 11-30-2012 11:16 PM

Jesus Christ.

I don't want to blow this out of proportion, he wont single-handedly blow our 2013 season, and maybe we will cut him in Arizona in which case we only owe him a portion of his contract, but if he is pitching in April, then we will have thrown away over 4 ****ing million dollars. That is good money, now spent on a loser pitcher, instead of on someone who could have won some games.

Wow, are we dumb!

All of this, it really defies logic. There is not one rational explanation for this decision. I'm sure DM will say he didn't want to give up on an arm, but give me a f'in break....he is what he is at this point.

DeezNutz 11-30-2012 11:18 PM

This is not surprising. DM is the same guy who paid and retained both Buck and Olivo.

Almost enough that I feel like I should start posting like you.

:D

KevB 11-30-2012 11:19 PM

This also signals to me that the org is pessimistic about obtaining another starting pitcher via trade or FA, which is almost as depressing as the decision to bring that turd back.

Dr. Johnny Fever 11-30-2012 11:20 PM

I was a pretty good little league player. At 43 I bet I could maybe still get a contract to play for the Kansas City Royals. Hey, why not try?

siberian khatru 11-30-2012 11:21 PM

Well, now I just want to read Dayton's quotes on why he thinks Hoch is worth holding on to ... how he makes the team better. Why cutting him -- and his salary -- would be worse. That should be fun.
