IMO, this is where Bob Sutton's role takes on the utmost importance.

Reid has always been able to fabricate an efficient offense but since the death of Jim Johnson, his defenses have struggled enormously, which have led to losing seasons.

If Sutton can put together a top 12 or so defense, this team will be very good. But if he can't, then they'll struggle.

I'm not so sure he can do that at age 37.

He just threw for 4700 yards and 37 TDs.

I'm pretty sure he's going to rape and murder with Welker in his stable now.

Steve Young says hello.

49ers acquired him in a trade by fleecing Tampa Bay.

I have no idea what to expect from Manning. I was one of about 4 people who was not insanely excited about signing him because I knew he was barely able to grip a football a few months before. But he worked hard at getting better... although he didn't do very well in cold weather. Some people acted like his arm strength was fine, but I don't think he was the same guy at all.

Guys like Montana and Favre had one great season then regressed a bit at the end as age got to them. Elway won at that age but his team was loaded, Terrell Davis was running out of his mind. Bubby Brister won games with those teams.

Funny thing about Young is that SF gave up a first for him.

One thing I DO know; it's time to end this Charger nonsense. That is one team that needs to start getting its ass kicked by KC on a regular basis. Oakland will rarely if ever be a sure win due to the rivalry, but that other paradigm needs to shift starting THIS year. Enough! (sorry, Buck)

2nd and a 4th

It's just another appeal to minority, though.

Welker won't be effective if that guy with the flab arm can't stretch the field. If you cheat on Brady, he has enough to burn you down field. Maybe the QB formerly know as Peyton needed a year to really get into playing shape and will finish strong this season. I'm betting that his arm really can't deliver anymore and his giant QB brain won't be able to close the gap.

They gave up a 2nd & a 4th for him. As I said, they fleeced Tampa.

Either way, even if he drops off, that's an 11-5 team at worst.

We aren't winning 11 games.

Not only did they give up a 1st, they also gave up a 2nd and a 3rd.

That might be the first time those two were ever confused. ;)

#1 and #3 the first year, #2 the next.

It was worse than the Herschel Walker deal in many respects.
