Deep Chiefs Thoughts By Black Bobby

In the spirit of Peter King and Jack Handy I give you "Deep thoughts of ten things I think I think."

Badonkadonk

1. I think Bob Sutton is thinking of allowing Peters to shadow receivers all over the field and be a shut down cornerback. Sutton likes to do this when he has the talent. He did it in NY with Revis for years. Early in the season, Peters got a ton of picks but he also got torched in Pittsburgh and Carolina. I think Sutton challenged him to be more disciplined and mature and he would get his shot at being a shut down guy. Peters responded great and teams hardly throw at him anymore. I think Peters will follow Brown everywhere he goes next week. I think he's ready and Sutton will feel the same.

2. It was refreshing to see the offense we ran in 2013, 2014, and 2015 last week. Running back screens, crossing routes, drag routes, bootlegs and Alex running the ball. I have hated the offense this year. I can't stand running the ball with Ware out of the shotgun or pistol. I can't stand throwing it all the time on 3rd and 1. We have pretty much been running the spread all year. I think the o-line is fine but, we run the ball better with Alex under center. We run the ball better behind our pro bowl FB. Again, last week we showed we could go right back to that offense Andy Reid ran in Philly with Westbrook. The same offense we ran the previous three years. We have been missing West this year. Remember that he was the man when Charles went down last year. Having the ability to run two very different offenses could be a major bonus on the road to the Super Bowl.

3. Tyreek Hill is the fastest, most agile, and quickest player to play in the NFL since Deion Sanders. Yep, that is a big comparison but it's the only comparison IMO.

4. Sometimes Reid forces the ball too much to Hill IMO. The guy is great. If he's on the field teams have to pay attention to him. However, I worry about how often we are going to that well. Some defender is going to take a screen to the house sooner or later. I also think he makes Andy lazy. Remember how much better we got after Charles got hurt last year? It wasn't because Charles wasn't good, it's because Andy forced the ball to him too much. When he got hurt it forced Andy to be creative. There is no doubt Hill needs the ball 5-6 times a game. I'm just saying Reid needs to stay creative and not get lazy about how he uses him.

5. Zombo needs to start at MLB against Pittsburgh. Sorenson will be Road kill if he plays MLB against them. Zombo has played some MLB for us in the past and done a good job. I think he's better in the middle than outside. I don't think we should try and be cute against Pittsburgh. We will pay for it.

6. Ok, this one is controversial. Chris Conley sucks ass. He sucked at Georgia and he sucks in KC. He is the classic underachieving all hype guy who never comes through. Albert Wilson is a better route runner and a better fit in the #2 WR role in our offense. He is much better at the crossing and drag routes. When Conley is in there the route tree is limited. He runs deep routes, comebacks, and curls. None of these are routes Alex likes to throw. If Alex is going deep, it will be to Hill. Reid probably won't but, he needs to start Wilson over Conley.

7. This one is controversial too. Dee Ford needs to stay at LOLB and Houston needs to play ROLB except when Hali rotates in. Dee was blowing it up on the left side before Houston came back. He's not getting it done going against LTs. I don't think we can trust Houston yet and the defense relies on that pass rush coming from the left side. I'm not saying this move should continue into next year but, right now we need consistency and we are more consistent with Ford nor the left.

8. I am just not sold on Terrance Mitchell yet. I know... I should be. I DO like him out there and he has outplayed Gaines. He also allows Nelson to play inside which is a good thing. I just get nervous about a guy who started the season sixth string. Maybe it clicked for him? I dunno but, I got a feeling we may need Gaines at some point. And I think he'll respond.

9. Pittsburgh will run a gadget play against us. I think it will be on special teams. Possibly a fake FG. They will need it.

10. It all comes down to stopping the run and running the ball. We haven't been great or consistent at either. Pittsburgh will be a big test. I think if we can beat them we'll go all the way. We have got to be able to run the ball and sustain long drives to win this game. If we can't, Bell will wear us out.

I used to fool around with it a little bit until one day I got shocked. I have been thinking of picking it back up.

Yes you are. He should be playing next to Wilson. He has played there in the past for KC.

He sucks. Yes he does. I have watched every college and pro game he's played in. He regularly drops passes and can successfully run three or four routes. He sucks ass.

I've said this but people didn't seem to agree.

Dee Ford does need to stay on the left side until at least he can get an offseason of reps to move to the right side. For the playoffs leave him on the left side to attack RT he has the moves and can blow it up in the backfield. Tamba Hali is just good at taking up a blocker these days but if we play Steelers he can take Big Ben down because Ben will hold onto the ball too long.
