Needs the extra support for those 'free-motion' machine squats.

Well, joined a gym today.

A month shy of 29 years old, 6ft, 220lbs, 23% BMI - so approximately 50lbs of fat. Not cool.

Ideal weight is 185, and I'd like to get down to 12-15% body fat.

I am somewhat lanky and hide it well, but it's noticeable. Its gotten to the point where I don't want to take pictures with the girlfriend... also not very cool of me.

It's time to do something. Hopefully this is the first step of many to come.

Down to 208.

Already noticing body composition changes. Gut is smaller, less pronounced and I even had to go get some new jeans. Pretty exciting wins for me.

Staying tight to my diet, though I'm going to adjust it a bit after doing some more research. The toughest part was letting go of all the impulse meals; now it's salads, chicken, no carbs outside of fruit and veggies. I'll be adding in more protein and potentially introducing grains... I just need to make sure it's not a slippery slope into carbville.

In any event, 180-184 is the desired range, by late June. At 208, if I lose 1 pound every 3-4 days, it can happen.

He might have varicose veins or something.

I hardly ever wear shorts to the gym because I have insanely nasty varicose veins which I'm self-conscious about.

Nice job man. Stay the course. I picked up a book a while ago called 'paleo for lifters', and have been on it for the past 2 months. Gone from a messy 238 down to 216, with increases in strength. Only cardio I do is hill sprints twice a week. Goal is 205-210. I don't even think about grains anymore. I get all the carbs I need from fruit & sweet potatoes.

I have found a breakfast that I will NEVER get tired of.. 6 eggs, 6 pieces of bacon and sweet potato 'home fried' in coconut oil. So ****ing good.

Including the cream in my coffee.. yeah probably close to it. I stopped counting a while ago. Other two meals are usually .5-1lb of beef, or some london broil or salmon, plus veggies. Only taking in around 100g of carbs/day. Train 6 days a week, with 2 sometimes 3 hill sprint sessions depending on time.

About $200 for the whole family (wife, 3yr and a 7 month). I buy in bulk for the week. It helps that we have a stand alone freezer. ****ing kids food is expensive, and the big tub of formula powder is $50 alone. 4 pack of london broil, 5lbs ground beef, 4 doz eggs, some bacon, frozen spinach, bag of apples. pretty much all i need.

OK, so serious question here:

My right achilles tendon is acting up every time I try to sprint on it recently. Do I just need to rest it for a week or something, or do I need to see a doctor?

I gave it about 3 days rest last week, and was able to go on a jog, but the next day it was ****ing killing me again. Ibuprofen helps, but I would really like to be able to sprint every other day, and right now it's not letting me.

Maybe I need new shoes.

Stepped on something wrong over 2 years ago and that sumbitch Achilles is still giving me problems flaring up at times. Definitely rest. Don't be an idiot like me and do too much too soon.
