I don't think they are talking contracts. but the new cba doesn't really give an exact amount. Just gives parameters. There will be negotiating

Geno,Geno who can I turn to?

BossChief 02-13-2013 04:15 PM

One things FOR SURE...if we aren't gonna take Geno, we better trade the pick to a team that's outside of the AFCW...Geno wants to be the top pick so bad that if he goes to Oakland, he is gonna want to destroy us twice a year.

The only thing in place is the basic compensation framework.

You still have to negotiate base salary, guaranteed money, signing bonus, other incentives, and any special clauses that are to be included.

They CAN do that but Goodell is trying to get teams to stop. It ruins the drama of Thursday night PRIME TIME.

BossChief 02-13-2013 04:34 PM

The whole contract is guaranteed, isnt it?

No. Base salary is never guaranteed.

Hmmm...learn something new every day.

However, as you can see from Blackmon's contract, there are still plenty of negotiating points.

Is the implication here that these guys, for all intents and purposes, can't be cut before the end of their rookie contract (obviously, the can be but the cap ramifications are kind of harsh)?
