I nicely told @ChiefsCoilition to get a clue.

"It's not lame to fly the banner @Chiefscoalition it's lame to let Pioli alienate the fans, former players & to keep putting Cassel out there"

So... this is happening?

A guy I work with is a huge Ravens fan and is going to the game and he said he isn't sure what he's looking forward to the most... the ass-kicking his team is going to put on ours or seeing the hoopla surrounding all this. He also salutes those doing all this.

I can't believe this is really happening. Congratulations Chiefs fans. This is fantastic. Thank you to everyone who is putting in their money and time to make this a reality.

I'll be at the game. My first trip to Arrowhead since the Bengals tried to kill Trent Green. The best part (besides the banner, I mean)? Tickets and parking passes were free. I get to be there and support this, and I don't have to give the organization a dime.

Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs fans!

Pioli looked to be sweating bullets when Clark was looking over his shoulder in one of those press conferences. Perhaps it was about money, but to me it looked like Clark stepped in to ensure the Hunt name was protected. Unfortunately, KC fans are happy with teams just good enough to give them hope. As long as the fans feel the team is competitive and there isn't some heathen running around on the sideline, the Hunt name is viewed in a positive light.

Let's face it, Clark threw a serious chunk of change out there when he acquired Pioli, Cassel, Romeo, Weis, etc. He could have turned a profit without going after some of the biggest names on the market.

Either way, Arrowhead is dieing a slow painful death and opposing teams no longer fear the place. How sad is that.

I would agree with you. I'll give Clark the benefit of the doubt. If Pioli gets an extension after this mess, unless he does some serious damage control, we can start to question him.

I still have this glimmer of hope that Clark knows this is a problem and that Pioli is skating on thin ice.

And I disagree that this won't work. The Chiefs have had some bad teams before, but their fans are the loyalest of loyal. For it to have sunk this low... it's not good. Pioli is too egotistical not to notice. And Hunt is just not used to Chiefs' fans reacting negatively.

mcan 10-02-2012 12:50 PM

Congrats on getting your guys' voices heard. I don't agree with the level of vitriol towards Clark/Pioli/etc... I agree Cassel isn't the answer and the team should start looking in another direction though. And I definitely think that the fans should find a way to show their displeasure without resorting to the types of behavior that make us look like a fair-weather fan base, or just makes us downright disrespectful or rude. Boycotts and the like only serve to make future coaches and players NOT want to come here. Filling the stadium and rooting for your team win or lose is PART of being a fan. The plane banner is a perfect way to sharpen both sides of this sword.

That said, I think most of our problems are and have been coaching... For nearly a decade now. Changing out the quarterback is like changing the color of your queen on a chessboard. If the coaches have poor schemes and strategies, they just aren't very good chess players. It's not a perfect analogy, because players have to be good enough to execute a scheme. Crappy players can ruin even the best coaches best laid plans. But our guys, and this includes Cassel, aren't "crappy." Some are really quite good. Others are merely adequate. But, we need to find better chess masterminds. All else will be window dressing and false hope. Manning didn't want to come in here and be a fancy chess piece for a guy playing checkers. I believe that why he didn't field our calls.

The Chiefs never drafted their own quarterback to develop until Brodie Croyle was chosen in the 2006 NFL Draft and claimed the starting position in 2007.

If that's all it takes to get Cassel to perform, you claim motivation and start collecting funds for banners over every game in every city he plays in.

We'd have to keep an eye on anonymous donations, wouldn't wanting that snake Pioli slipping one in and taking credit for the success.

The Packers game is the only one that comes to mind as far as winning games they shouldn't.... I think they've beaten 3 playoff teams in the past 3+ seasons, and Cassel didn't start two of those (he beat the 7-9 Seahawks).

There have been surprises, like the MNF game vs the Chargers, and the 2010 game vs the 49ers... but none of those teams ended up being anything more than mediocre (and the Saints this year, but they're a mess).

Old Dog 10-02-2012 02:17 PM

I still can't get over the line being only 4 1/2.....if a line looks too good to be true, it normally is. I have a feeling this one may be a lot closer than many here are suspecting.

Didn't think about the Steelers game... didn't Forte get hurt early in the game vs the Bears, and they were also starting some scrub at QB? Sure, that 30 yard hail mary was a huge surprise, but someone had to win...
