my wife's last few xmas parties we got 4 tickets good for drinks at the bar, then after that was cash bar. the parties were typically held at one of the casinos, or the Overland Park convention center. The last two at the OPCC, we lived about 1/16 of a mile from it. but it was nice to have the option to just get a room for the end of the night etc.

My wife's old company used to throw big Christmas parties for their warehouse crew. They'd also bring in some of the creative talent (like my wife) and sales reps. I always kind of felt bad, because they'd have the "party" at one place, hang for about an hour, then the owners would take all the creative talent and sales reps out on the town, leaving all the warehouse workers behind.

Eventually people said "Can't we just get a bonus or something instead of spending all this money on a party?"

I'm still waiting to find out what the Christmas party is possessing.

Its pretty sad to have a caste system like that, **** you little manual laborers who help keep this place running.

Your soul.

Just had an xmas party last night for Oxy. It was awesome. Open bar and buffet. I couldn't tell you how many Bloody Mary's I drank last night.

Went to my new company's holiday party Friday night, and it was a blast. Catered dinner at a country club, open bar, etc.

bevischief 12-16-2012 10:40 AM

So do you still have a job?

In58men 12-16-2012 10:46 AM

Of course

Mr. Flopnuts 12-16-2012 10:58 AM

Had one last Saturday that had over 1000 people there. Got drunk and left without even eating. I ****ing hate those. Last night, the boss had the sales crew over and I went over there, got tanked, was mildly obnoxious, and ate great food. Had a blast. I'm friends with my coworkers, it's almost like a family if you're "in". It's good to be loved. I get obnoxious, and every one loves it. That rarely happens in life. :)

Damn...I can't imagine a group that big. My new company has 50 people (about 75 at the party including spouses). Any more than that would just be nuts.

I didn't know 950 of them, so it was pretty close to the same as yours. We were there just long enough to sign in. Grabbed a couple of drinks, went around and made sure we were seen, and then got the **** out.

It sounds like it was a pretty nice little party though. You enjoying the new place?

Yeah, so far. Only been there 4 weeks so far, but I'm starting to get the swing of things. Very laid back culture, cool industry, and all that jazz. So far, so good. :thumb:

Round 2 tonight. Going to the Mrs party tonight at 7:30, which means I'll miss most of the 4th qtr. You think I'll miss anything?

stevieray 12-16-2012 11:17 AM

Right on, man. I'd like to hear more about it, but I'll find a better forum to do that. :)
