Cool Stuff About Denzel Washington

He's one of my favorite actors.

Cool stuff I didn't know:

His father was a Pentecostal preacher.
He went to military school to learn discipline.
He was an creative arts coordinator at a Connecticut summer camp.

His first movie role was uncredited. He was in Charles Bronson's "Death Wish" in 1974. He plays a black thug that gets shot to death in the first minute of the movie.

He played collegiate basketball at Fordham for then coach PJ Carlesimo.

He's been married for 30 years and has four kids.

He's won two academy awards, two golden globes and a tony award on Broadway.

He's a life long Yankees fan.

So that's the only bad thing I can say about him...

His performance in Flight just reassured why he's my favorite actor...love his movies...

Denzel is the shit. Probably my second fave after Will Smith.

Glad to see he's been rocking the ring for 30 years. I've actually never seen his wife though.

He was great in Glory. He was very good as the football coach in Remember The Titans, very good as the Second in Command on the Sub in Crimson Tide.

He's played good guys and bad guys and everything in between. Extremely versatile.

Here's a picture of his wife Paulette.

Glory was what made me a huge Denzel fan.

Titans was a dreadful movie but Training Day was great.

I will never forgive him for stealing that award from W. Smith.

You can hate on Ali or not like him or his politics (and FTR this is a conservative white man arguing this) but Smith owed that part.

I live, love, and consume everything Ali and I absolutely despised the idea of him getting that part.

That said He completely became it.

The ****ing guy LOOKED LIKE Ali. He (fake) punched like Ali.

Just watched Ali yesterday and yes Will Smith is amazing in that...I was frickin blown away at how well he portrayed Ali's speaking, his little nuances in and out of the ring, and his fighting style. Crazy how good he is in that.

Denzel got the Oscar for Training Day over Will right?

Man, that's a tough ****ing break. I couldn't be mad either way.

Love that movie - second only to Casablanca on my personal favorities list. The scene where he was being flogged was amazing.

Demonpenz 05-02-2013 09:51 AM

Denzel won the Oscar for Training day as almost a tribute to all his other movies he has done.

Flight was terrible. He did a nice job, but the movie was either an ad for AA or the restorative powers of cocaine. I'm still not sure which.

SnakeXJones 05-02-2013 11:05 AM

I think he is tad overrated the fact every character he plays is just denzel playing denzel
