Kid Nails Tom Sawyer on Drums

I see this every day at my local Drums R Us, but it's not too bad, I guess. (probably a Q)

Pfffft. If this kid wants me to be impressed, let's see him nail YYZ.

:D

Maybe we can put him in a band with all the little kid guitar shredders that Dane knows.

That brings a big smile to my face. Kid's good! **** that kid. :')

Can't see the OP video.

Rather watch him work his way through this, particularly with the foot cam.

Well he missed a couple beats toward the end so he sucks. :)

Great job!! Such talent at that age!

He missed quite a bit in both videos. He's really "heavy handed" and didn't roll well in YYZ. His timing was very suspect throughout both videos as well. I was not impressed.

Now, before you guys rail on me, I have heard young kids recently that can actually play without being forced. At my daughter's talent show in November, one of the 6 year old's brought his entire kit and played War Pigs, which is a really difficult song, regardless of age, because of the "swing" and ghost notes. That kid absolutely nailed it. I was blown away. Of course, his dad is a TV composer but still, he rocked.

Now we've gone from local Guitar Centers to elementary school talent shows.

:p

Either he isn't coordinated enough yet or something cause his kick timing is very sloppy lol.

Personally, I think that any parent that puts their kid on YouTube with an attempt to "impress" people are dicks.

There is nothing natural about this kid's playing. He's not hearing it and he's not feeling it. IMO, it's embarrassing.

Todd Marinovich.

may sound corny.....but I think it's cool the way he randomly gets this sideways smile on his face while he's playing. kinda like......"yeah this is good".

Agreed. And I don't know much about child prodigies, because neither of my kids are anywhere close to being that in any area... but in comparing him to my kids who are both learning instruments currently... this kid is a freaking prodigy.

The kid's story is pretty interesting if you go to his website. Self taught, basically, with parents who aren't musicians. He now has an instructor, but he taught himself from 2-4 years old or something.
