Megathread preferences

I've pretty much given up on the battle against megathreads. For whatever reason, people seem to hate starting new threads for minor topics, so it kind of is what it is.

The mods (well, mainly me) have been trying to help by changing thread titles when new info is posted, but I figured it's worth checking the pulse of the Planet to see how everyone would LIKE things to work.

So poll incoming, and feel free to throw out suggestions and thoughts in the thread.

in b 4 poll

also, I like megathreads because it lets me more easily ignore topics I'm not interested, such as the guns thread.

Is this going to be the Megathread for all Megathreads?

Megathreads suck

MEGA MEGA MEGA MEGA

I like the updates to rumor thread headlines as the story develops.

I also like the player specific megathreads

As the most recent example of the stuff that's driving me nuts, we have a thread titled "Chiefs will be wearing Red on Red Sunday Night" that is currently discussing the fact that they're wearing red on red this Thursday. But that's just one example out of probably 4-5 per week.

Chose option 3 but minor updates would work better for minor updates.

But ****ing Christ megathreads are awful. And if we’re being honest, most threads devolve into ****tardery after 100 or so posts. Obviously not all but many (I’m ****ing looking at your Eric Berry thread)

Can we unban YlP and ban mega threads?

Hey, not my fault that people insist on posting in that damn thing. We've had at least 4-5 other threads about Berry with new news, and for some reason people keep bumping that thing. :shake:

I chose option three, but I'm somewhere between 2 and 3. I'm no fan of megathreads either, so I guess I'm leaning more towards splitting them.

Yeah. I wouldn’t think of anyone outside of general ****tardery that would bitch about splitting that one into a new thread.

It might be good to review who has lost thread privileges. A few of those are people that can’t start a new thread.

Maybe all those people deserve to be on the list? But I’d think a review wouldn’t hurt much.

If I knew some easy way to "ban megathreads" I probably would. I just don't know of any rule that would make sense.

Post count? Game threads would break.
Length of time since the thread was started? Bumping an old thread to laugh at incorrect predictions is a time-honored tradition around here.

It's really up to the users to post new threads about stuff, and I'm out of ideas to make people do that aside from just constantly bitching about it.

Oh I know. Believe me I know. Just for the love of ****ing **** don’t lock the thing so all the ****tardery stays pretty much contained.

But I’m not going to be the guy that dogs the news out of that reerun off.
