Anybody use a room/space heater that is safe for pets?

It's cold. I have 3 pets. Every space heater I've owned burned to the touch.

Right now it's between 25 at night and 50 in the day, and inside my house its a constant 40 degrees or so. I'm San Diegan, therefore, that is immensely cold.

Anyone have a safe for pet space heater that you recommend?

Thanks.

Yeah I use two that don't get hot at all to the touch. Walmart $20. Complete with knock over shut down and overheat protection.

I live in an old ass apartment with shitty windows.

I'm currently wearing 2 layers of clothing, and am not too cold, but my hands are freezing. Also my dog is shaking because she's too cold, I want her to be comfortable while I go to work every day. The cats are covered in fur and they're fine.

We have a heated ceiling that has never been turned on in the 2 years I've lived here because I don't trust it's safety, especially having seen all the shit that has broken down or flooded in my complex since I've been here.

Yep, you need an infrared heater similar to one of these. You can easily heat a bedroom or a living room with one of these.

Also maybe 40 was an overexaggeration. Probably closer to 48-50. Either way, it's not comfortable.

I have one almost exactly like that. It would definitely make a difference Buck if you want to spend the $$.

You're right to be cautious of space heaters. If you end up with the wrong one and something goes wrong, the last thing you will have to worry about is your place being to cold because it could get very hot very fast when your couch is on fire.

What kind of dog do you have?

Supposedly she's a Border Collie / Cattledog mix. I am not 100% sure, so I call her a mutt. I'll post a pic in a sec.

Get a HEAT LAMP!! problem solved.

Just put the heater on a table. I used a quartz heater that was hot to touch but no flame and a tipover switch all 13 winters with my pooch. He never even went near it, but I usually put it on my filing cabinet anyway because it circulated the heat better in conjunction with my ceiling fan.

Ceramic blower heaters work fine. Cheap too.

One other thing to consider is the fact that some of those things draw some serious amps 12-15 for a 1500w heater. A space heater running at full power is the same as running 15 100-watt light bulbs. That is quite a lot of power in that little box. and for old houses with old circuits, especially the lowest-rated 15 amp house circuits, that’s a heavy load of electricity you’re pumping through that wall outlet.
