Showcasing my range and the compromise that is marriage by attending the Hanni El Khatib show tonight in KC, so I'm listening to some of that right now, eh. I guess there is a teenage 3 piece from St. Joe called Radkey who's opening that has a Ramones/Bad Brains influence, could be interesting.

I thought I was burnt out on Vampire Weekend after absolutely wearing out their first album (and second to a lesser degree) with my kids.

Their latest release is excellent, though.

I was a fan of the late 80s shoegaze genre (Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, etc.). I'm reminded of those bands when I listen to Belong by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I hadn't heard of this band before hearing a song of theirs in a movie recently. A quick search shows that MoreLemonPledge had this album as his 15th best of 2011. Good choice, MLP.

The Sex Prisoner 2012 s/t 7" might have been the hardest thing I heard last year. Their back in 2013 with a new EP. Easily my favorite of the new wave of Crossed Out influenced PV bands. Only 100 pressed to white.
