achilles surgery...

Had achilles surgery two days ago. Real fun time. I recommend everyone do it at least once.

Rausch 11-22-2012 12:04 PM

Pass.

In58men 11-22-2012 12:05 PM

^ How will you get the ladies now?

penguinz 11-22-2012 12:17 PM

Have to stay away from the ones with toe fetishes.

displacedinMN 11-22-2012 12:18 PM

Sorry to hear it. Had heel spur surgery July 6.
Had to intentionally cut achilles.
5 weeks in a cast.

Started in class teaching Aug 28. Walking good, can't get on tippy toe on that foot yet. that is what physical therapy is for.

At least you have no where to go today.

rent a knee scooter!!!!!!!

You can still pull missionary if you put two pillows under your ankles.

Just saying...

I decided I had nothing to work up to except being able to walk around class.
Not much of an athlete anymore.

I refuse to change my lifestyle.

displacedinMN 11-22-2012 12:49 PM

Good for you, you are lucky. I will have to work up to the jumping, walking fast etc.

We have all seen athletes come back faster than us regular people. You should recover faster too since it sounds like you are in great shape. Age helps too.

Look into the scooter-crutches suck!!!

Whenever I think about a razor blade being slowly and deliberately pushed clean through an Achilles tendon, it gives me the willies.

Why did you have to do that? I'm a little frightened of my left achilles. Been having some pain and tightness. Nothing excruciating but my old body is obviously breaking down there and I'm not sure what is gonna fix that thing. Elevation and ice don't seem to get it done.

penguinz 11-23-2012 10:15 PM

This is not as much fun as it sounded in the doctors office. So much pain. :(

penguinz 11-28-2012 12:42 PM

The other few here who have had Achilles surgery... How long before you were able to walk with the boot and no crutches?

penguinz 11-28-2012 07:23 PM

Anyone?

Did you use Suggs' surgeon? The man works miracles.

displacedinMN 11-28-2012 08:13 PM

boot and no crutches. I think 6 weeks. The boot was great.
with crutches at first.

Surgery July 6- no crutches August 20th. But very slow.
had to look it up.

I've got a really really sharp knife. It removed a pecan sized skin tag from my inner thigh  (I can't find the thread about it).

so, needless to say, I'm pretty experienced in surgery. PM me.
Oh, and bring whiskey and something to bite on. (No homo)

Try this daily for both feet, chances are the other one is on its way to pain.

http://www.webmd.com/pain-management...endon-problems

Also try a rolling pin back and forth under your arches. I do this once daily and my daughter has to as well. Genetic ?? But it has helped tremendously?

penguinz 01-02-2013 01:59 PM

Woo Hoo! Full release from doctor only 6 weeks post surgery!

Rain Man 01-02-2013 02:02 PM

Are you still walking like a penguin, or did they fix that?
