Good scene.

I also like the scene with Robin Williams and Matt Damon on the park bench, where he talks about his wife and Matt Damon is left speechless after he gets up and walks off. "Your move sport."

Lots of good choices. Here are a couple more I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Goodfellas - The montage showing the result of Jimmy's tied up loose ends (played to the piano solo in Layla).
Shawshank Redemption - When the warden finds Andy's bible in the safe, and when he hears the police sirens.

I saw Casino as a small child and the scene where they're burying Joe Pesci alive is burned in my head until this day. I went the longest time not even knowing what movie the scene was from (I was very young) and just recently watched it again a couple years ago... So, I guess that qualifies as pretty memorable for me.

KChiefer 01-14-2013 05:59 PM

I'll stick with comedies, because top 5 of all movies is just brutal. Hell, many movies or actors can make their own top 10. So yeah, 5 random, awesome scenes.

The Jerk, "He hates these cans!"

Animal House, cafeteria scene.

Something About Mary, franks and beans.

Breakfast Club, Bender under the table.

Princess Bride, battle of wits.

JD10367 01-14-2013 06:03 PM

1.) The Death Star explosion in "Star Wars".
2.) Charlton Heston as Moses parting the Red Sea in "The Ten Commandments".
3.) The opening of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (giant rolling boulder).
4.) "I am your father." ("The Empire Strikes Back")
5.) When Vader turns good and grabs the Emperor and throws him over the railing near the end of "Return Of The Jedi".

Honorable Mentions:

- "Jaws". The whole freaking movie. Pick a scene. The opening attack. Quint scratching the chalkboard and naming his price. "You go in the cage? Cage goes in the water? Shark's in the water. Our shark." "We're gonna need a bigger boat." The comparing of injuries and then the U.S.S. Independence story. The ending scene ("Smile, you son of a..." BOOOM!)

- The horse's head in the bed in "The Godfather".

- Rocky running up the stairs in Philadelphia.

Demonpenz 01-14-2013 08:34 PM

ET in the basket would be a good one.

yeah just an all-around fantastic movie and i love the special effects too. the score is great as well. that new movie even used some of the same music during the scary parts, that was a nice touch.

I thought of "coffee is for closers" as soon as I saw this thread. I'll try to name a few that haven't already been posted. I'll start with:

"I want my father back, you son of a bitch." (from The Princess Bride).

Fishpicker 01-16-2013 03:28 PM

1. There Will Be Blood - opening scene. Daniel is nearly killed but finds a chunk of gold. He deposits it at a bank and $2 is put on the books.

2. Conan The Barbarian (Ahnold) - The Orgy

3. Apocalypse Now - The horror

4. Sanjuro - The duel

5. Reserved * for the next Hobbit movie, when Smaug is shown on screen for the first time. It will either be perfect or it will be another WTF moment like the flooding of Isengard in The Two Towers.

2. Pulp Fiction - the body disposal scene with Tarintino

3. Raising Arizona - the intro to the Lone Biker of the Apocalypse where he throws hand grenades at rabbits.

4. Monte Python and the Holy Grail - Lancealot killing spree

5. Carrie - the very end when the hand comes out of the ground and grabs Sue. That terrified me as a child

That 20 min scene and the almost non-stop shelling during the Bastogne episode of Band of Brothers had me stunned, speechless, teary-eyed, amazed and proud to be an American living in freedon all at the same time.

There have been many great movie scenes that I have enjoyed but those two affected me in ways that I cannot even explain. Truly fabulous

Band of Brothers. My favorite WW2 series/movie. Watch the entire series every year on Memorial Day. My Grandpa wept during that episode. Got up and left the room. Was a Pfc in the 6th Armored Division in 1944.
