(New NEW) 2014 Royals Repository
Let's get back sole possession tonight.
|
continuing from the last repository,
The whole 60-day DL thing might somehow give us the ability to make someone postseason eligible after tonight (who knows since we don't know what rule 40 says anymore), but I still think we'd have to pick 25 guys before each series. We're not gonna be in a situation where we get to have more players than our opponent. |
****ing Tigers rallying.

Chisux up 6-2 in the 8th.

Today, I don't care about the Tigers. I just want our guys to be less reeruned at the plate with RISP

According to McCullough, the Royals do plan to execute some 40-man roster shenanigans right after the game and before the deadline. They aren't saying exactly what they are doing yet.
|
Ned Yost ladies and gentlemen.
Andy McCullough @McCulloughStar 35m Ned Yost says part of the reason the hitters have been pressing is the pressure to perform in front of the big crowds here at The K. |
I have to keep telling myself this:
Baseball is a game of streaks, winning and losing. We HAVE to have known that all this winning wouldn't come without a slump (just ask Detroit). I'd much rather the Royals slump now than three weeks from now. 15 LOB won't happen but once a season. |

If this is true, these guys dont deserve to make the playoffs |

Ned, I'll bet the players just LOVE hearing that.

I really have no idea why Rany has dubbed himself some sort of shadow GM here and announced Finnegan is already our #1 bullpen lefty. The team certainly hasn't said that, McCullough's tweet didn't say that, and history would not suggest that's likely for pretty much any MLB team.

Truly amazing they keep running out that POS Moustakas vs LH. .175 v them but who needs offense on this juggernaut?

Quote:
Oh, what's that? They just signed Jayson Nix? The only guy on earth who plays third base and hits worse than Moustakas? Awesome. The moves this team has made the last couple of months are absolutely mind-boggling. Raul Ibanez? Scott Downs? Jayson Nix? What is going on here? Who thinks it's a good idea to let these people play in the major leagues in a pennant race? |
Are we looking at the Inevitable Collapse?
|
Just play Colon at 3B against LH. Or I dunno, keep Valencia instea of trading him? He was hitting LH fine

I could literally ask my five-year-old daughter to make these decisions, and she would be smarter about it than these idiots. |
Thurman this is why it's so infuriating following this franchise. What a complete shit storm this weekend. I doubt they'll recover and I look for them to go 10-16 the rest of the way.
In a way, 86 wins will feel like Dayton won the WS. Again. |
Since the other thread was ended I'll restart it over here on a weekly basis:

Realistically, we're now tied with Detroit.
|
I'm pretty laid back about the Royals but shit, this series with Cleveland has left me bummed out a little. Cleveland is a crappy road team and a much better team at home, so yeah, we gave this shit away to them!
I know it's baseball, we have hit a speed bump in the road this last week. The month of August we were speeding away through the schedule threatening to bury Detroit while they were reeling. So before we could build a good division lead, our bad luck would have it, we stopped hitting and Ned Yost over thinks about managing. I told everybody we would win this division out of spring training. I still feel it, but only just a little bit now dammit. We just do not have that cushion I thought we would have going into September. During the homestand vs the A's & Giants, I said we would be in 1st place on Sept 1st with 3 game lead! How many people here thought we would win the division or even lead it on Sept.1st? So thanks to the lack of hitting and Ned Yost, we do not have that 3 game cushion I had envision with a good chance to grow the 1st week of September. It's gone, I was looking for a split with Detroit & Cleveland to finish the season and just finish strong. But no,we just finished losing 3 games to Cleveland for the most part, at home, which is totally unacceptable!. To get that back, we have to sweep Cleveland in Cleveland now and still split with Detroit, yet finish strong! We have no room for error now. My projected finishes, Royals ..........finish 16-11 final 90-72 * Gotta hit, score runs so Ned doesn't think! * Tigers...........finish 15-10 final 89-73 * Still injured, bad bull pen pitching * Indians .........finish 18-10 final 88-74 * Side note, next 10 games at home * After the AS break, we dropped those 4 games, to be honest I questioned rather we could win the division and may have to settle for a WC team. I am almost back to this point, again, almost. Now I know many of you are thinking here, no ****ing way we make the playoffs, much less win the division after this weekend. We do have our work cut out for us. What was once a good bet a week ago up 3 games is now 50/50 if we do not have anymore hiccups. |

I'm trying to remain as optimistic as possible about September but I think we have to win every three game series and, at least, split every 4 game here on out to have a chance at the division. Ned needs to be very smart with his lineups....
 |
Is there anyone that still wants to bring Butler back for 2015? Yeah, I didn't think so. He's got to go.

why does it seem that the effing indians are our 70s and 80s version of the yankees? dammit, go royals! |
All I know is that our pitchers, especially Duffy, need to stop trying to be heroes. Just throw freakin strikes and let our infielders take care of the base runners. I don't know how many times I've seen BGJ, Guts and Duffy throw errant pick off attempts, eventually resulting in runs. At least wait until you have your southpaw first baseman back.

i was arguing with a friend a few days ago about hosmer being in the lineup when he gets back. based purely on his defense. arguably billy's bat has been better this year, and won us a game or two.
but billy's glove (potentially) cost us last nights game. i hate winning an argument like this. |

I'm sure it was covered in the game thread, but what is the "official" ruling about the suspended game? Will they pick it up where it left off or will they replay the tenth inning in its entirety?

Most hitter fWAR after the trade deadline:
1. Alex Gordon 1.8 2. Jhonny Peralta (!!) 1.7 3. Josh Donaldson 1.6 4. Josh Harrison 1.6 |
Mike Trout and Alex Gordon are the only two players in MLB with fWARs north of 6.0

I also want Aoki on the bench as our 4th OF. Maybe even our 5th OF, and have Willingham be our backup in RF. |
Speaking of which, that might be today. Along with a flood of September callups, the Royals also announced that Hosmer is off the DL and coming back to KC.
|
Today's moves:
DFA'd Chris Dwyer Blake Wood Added to 40-man roster (and presumably put on active roster either today or tomorrow) Carlos Peguero Brandon Finnegan Activated off the DL Eric Hosmer Brought up to Active Roster Johnny Giavotella Francisco Pena Lane Adams Casey Coleman Will be made Active Tomorrow Aaron Crow Liam Hendricks Christian Colon Terrance Gore |
So will Hos play tonight?
|
I'm actually quite happy Hosmer is back.
|
Quote:

If Willingham's back is still giving him fits then we have a need at DH as well. Billy can fill that.
|
By the way we could have a stocked bench for once with Dyson and Aoki on it potentially.

That series just put me in a funk.

Peguero showed some pop in Omaha, yes?

Hosmer is going to come back and spark this team into the postseason.
Book it. |
He's back.

Alright Hos...pretend you're still helping the Storm Chasers win that PCL title.
Let's get the fans out of the seats, the games off National TV, and go back to being anonymous. |
Willingham's back must still be screwed.
No Butler either? |
Was Ned not watching when Butler took Lewis way deep in Arlington two weeks ago? What an asshole.

I missed that Carlos Peguero is starting in right field. In a pennant race. For a first-place team.

Also from Rany
Granted, Peguero 1) is a LHB and 2) hits homers, which seems like someone who matches up against Colby Lewis. Still smells of desperation. |
Dumbass if you are going to post tweets, embed them.
|
Per Andy
Raul Ibanez is 1-for-9 in his career against Colby Lewis, so I assume Ned Yost is reacting to Billy Butler's .553 OPS week and Lewis' split. |
Honestly I don't care if it's Peguero, Francouer, or Amos Freaking Otis in Right Field. I'm so sick of watching Aoki's Parkour-esque spinning gyrations of a swing. The guy who was known for getting on base can't even hit a sacrifice fly when we need it.
|
I'm gonna say WTF on Peguero?
We do have Gordon, Dyson and Cain right? |
