One more channel up.

Ross goes up for a three at the end of the half, gets stripped, regains possession in the air, and cans it.

Nice to finally have him back!!!

Wasn't really an impressive win, but damn... this team looks a lot different. We've got some height and muscle that was missing last season.

Agree, now we can battle in the paint.

Ebolapox 11-10-2012 08:19 PM

I've had much more fun at the basketball games than I have the football games this year, save the first half of the georgia game and the arizona state game.

SIUE came out shooting hot and MU was cold. I like how they stepped it up towards the end of the half and start of the 2nd. They got sloppy in the last 5 minutes but by then who cares?

And yes, we are a long and strong team this year. And we are 10-11 deep as opposed to 7 deep.

One Mizzou.

BourbonMan 11-14-2012 08:43 AM

Three hoops players expected to sign with MU on Wednesday

Williams, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Memphis who committed to MU in October, is the jewel of the bunch. Listed by Rivals as the No. 50 player in the Class of 2013, Williams averaged 15.7 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game as a junior at Southwind High School and is the highest-ranked high school senior to commit to the Tigers since Phil Pressey, who was ranked No. 61 in the Class of 2010.

I didn't realize that Jorgenson had de-committed.

Others were higher on him than I was, so it's not a huge loss for me. I almost think we should bank the scholarship until next season when we're not scrambling and can put a real press on guys over a longer window.

Sounds like that's what we're going to do unless we can catch a flier. Lots of chatter that Pressey is leaving after this year, though.

Devin Booker and D'Angelo Russell are still out there to be had with us being considered strong possibilities for both.

Then again, with Beard already in the fold for 2014, that's a hell of a lot of guard we'd be going after. Honestly, I'd love to have one or the other, both gets a little greedy.

I forgot about Beard. If we can hold that commit, he sure looks like a ready replacement for Pressey.

I think Pressey's nuts if he thinks he's going to be a lottery pick after his Junior year.

I want Booker more than any basketball recruit I can remember.

Players seem to really like Haith.

What a blessing that hire has been (so far) considering the questions surrounding it when it initially happened.

Saul Good 11-15-2012 10:23 AM

5 SEC teams in the top 20 for recruiting. Football is obviously better in the SEC, but it looks like the basketball will be tougher as well.

Ebolapox 11-15-2012 01:18 PM

yeah--I didn't like the haith hire at first, but I'm pretty happy with it now. winning IS the best deoderant.

Saul Good 11-15-2012 01:33 PM

Say what you will about Mike Alden, but he is the master of falling into a bag of dicks and coming out with a mouthful of titties.

I agree. I was pretty pissed at first, but am happier now. However, if Mizzou does not make some noise in the tournament in the next couple of years (preferably this year), then I may not think so highly of the hire.

They definitely have potential, but they need to start playing as a team a lot more than they did yesterday. And they need to learn how to play against zone defense. Passing twice and jacking up bad threes won't cut it against Louisville tonight.

I'm sure he'll be back. He's just being taught a lesson. (Hell, he got to fly with the team to the Bahamas for this tournament)

I expect he'll be back in time to get into rhythm with the team before the conference season starts.

Here you go

duncan_idaho 11-23-2012 08:12 PM

Here are the various rumors I've heard on Dixon:

1) From a friend whose girl works in the AD: Dixon screwed up at life (not academic-related) and is out for a short period. Not super-serious.

2) From the internet: Dixon was accused of rape, but there is no proof. He has been disciplined by an internal disciplinary body that includes students and is in danger of being booted.

3) From the internet: Dixon was caught cheating on a test, was disciplined by an internal disciplinary body that includes students, which voted to boot him from school (He is now appealing).

Not sure how much credence I place in any of those. Haith seems confident Mizzou will get Dixon back, though, based on his post-game comments last night (said "we will get two big scorers back soon," referring to Dixon and Brown). That might be more telling than anything.

It would be pretty typical Mizzou to boot the basketball team's best player for an allegation, though. So I'm not holding my breath.
