So, in the order confirmation email I got from Gander Mountain, it says, "All in-stock items will be shipped within 1 business day." I haven't heard anything from them yet. We'll see.

They already have check out models 94 and 96.

On the Target controversy I agree with Cochise on this, was it an actual incident or contrived to make bad press? Have to wait and see I guess.

well they should be able to trace whose gun it is, right? That serial number has got to be linked to an individual, right? I mean, that's what the friggen fed gov is for, right?

Find the owner.

They should be able to trace the gun, the system is there for that reason.
But were any laws broken? Is the law involved at all? Or, is this something that's just being reported by "the Press". Like the Anti-Islamic you tube video that "caused the attack on the Benghazi embassy"! The only thing I believe anymore is something I've actually seen.

I just spent a few minutes on a live help chat with their customer service. Somehow one of the 525 round boxes got taken off my order and, even though they have them in the warehouse, I'm only going to be sent one box. The ten 50 round boxes I ordered are now on backorder and should be in within two weeks. Well, at least I got some.

I could be linked to the original owner, I think. Beyond that though, who knows.

There are only a couple of states (like California, suprise) that register guns by serial. In all states you have to pass a background check, but it only records whether you are attempting to purchase a handgun or a long gun, and that information is supposedly destroyed after your request is accepted or denied.

They can trace from manufacturer to FFL. When they get to the FFL he will have the paperwork stored and they can track down the original owner from there.

All bets are off after that.

I think that it was planted. It's way too convenient.

Besides, who takes it off when they are open carrying? I could see if you were in the bathroom or something, maybe you lay it or hang it somewhere in the holster, but it would make no sense to remove it when open carrying and especially not to just walk off without it. How could you walk away without noticing the weight difference or the empty holster right on your side where your arm hangs? No reasonable person would do something like that IMO

I conceal carry probably 95% of the time, and I am ALWAYS aware of my gun, and I am sure as hell not taking it off in the store.

It was probably planted by a gun-fearing cock sucker that ended up disappointed that a kid didn't find it and shoot someone so that they could capitalize off the press.

Exactly to all of this. Not realizing you are no longer carrying a several pound gun just does not happen.

That's where I'd put my money.

Or it wasn't a real gun at all.

"That Nerf gun frightened my children! "

You gotta be one sick SOB to intentionally leave a loaded pistol in a toy section of a busy department store in order to prove a point... that being said, that type of move is right up the ally of most radical left leaning sicko's.
