Xbox Live is the greatest thing to hit consoles since the D-pad but I've been very disappointed in it's reliability this season. If I can't get my daily cod4 fix it puts me in a bad mood. >:(

Yeah, I was trying to play COD4 earlier and the issues got to be too bad. I just gave up.

my gamertag is ProblemLyric(original i know), I play alot of cod4 online, i have halo 3 but I haven't been playing that since I got cod 4, and I'm pretty much up for a game of either at anytime, plus a game of madden whenever.

Is nobody else having this problem? I don't see how we can be the only ones. As I said, NAT is OPEN and every single game we own goes online with ease but this one.

I'm experiencing these same issues now... must be with the XBL servers. Lots of people are having the same problem with other games.. no official word from M$ about this situation. typical.

Many of you might have noticed a bevy of problems facing Xbox live over this past week: An unresponsive marketplace, the inability to recover a gamertag (or even sign in), and aggravating matchmaking wait times, to name a few. Major Nelson issued a statement last night explaining that while there have been no complete outages of the service over the past week, "problems like this are not acceptable," and that they are working to get the service back to normal. Sadly, no time frame was provided on when repairs to the service would be complete.

There's been no official statement on why the service has been so shoddy lately, but if we were the guessing type, we blame it on the holiday season. We're sure that tons of people found a 360 under their trees (or candles), and immediately tried to hop online; only to collide with the millions of vacationing gamers who were already playing. Technology has come a long way, but the internet can still only hold so many racial epithet-slinging Master Chiefs before things start breaking down.

Finished Half Life 2 yesterday. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET game. Just a fun ride all the way through. I even liked the vehicle parts mostly. They dragged on a bit and the little dune buggy especially is tough to control in tight spaces, but the levels are mostly straight so it doesn't matter that much. My biggest disappointment is in the AI, which somehow seems worse than in the 1998 game. Basically the combine soldiers just stand there for target practice. But even that's fun because of the physics involved.

XBL works great 2AM-7AM. its pretty much inaccessible outside that timeframe but all the new kids still have bedtimes. & school will start again this week.

I'm actually glad that MS didnt bother upgrading their bottlenecked service. there isnt anything they could do to solve the problem within 6 months and XBL was never intended to be a continuous service anyways.

XBL question...

Just moved back in with the parents - for financial purposes (is it that bad, I'm only 22, lol)

And I'm without XBL...

It looks like I may have to buy the wireless adapater which is $100. I'm not a techie, so is there anyway around that?

My parents have the wireless upstairs - and their Wii catches the net up there. But, can I run a cord or something from upstairs to downstairs?

I miss XBL, but I'd rather not dish out the $100 for the 360 adapter.

Let the GoChiefs jokes commence. :)

do your parents have a router? the router might have a hard line out... if it does, buy a long ethernet (CAT5) cable and run it. if you're willing to wait a few days, you can get a 50- or 100-foot cable really cheap online.

plug it in and you're ready to rock and roll.

i used to do it that way and got tired of dragging the cable up and down stairs.

if you have a laptop you can connect your xbox to your laptop with an ethernet cord then you just have to go into your wireless connection and click share connection and that will work as well

Believe it or not, this makes me feel better. GH had been pissing me off because of this.

Are you saying that your parents have a wireless router upstairs? Running a cord down the stairs may not be an option that your parents will allow. You don't have to buy the official Xbox wireless adapter. I am using a Dlink DWL-G820. Works like a charm and only $64 at Newegg.

or you can go with an ethernet bridge, chokes the Mbps but for XboxLive it will do just fine. They are usually around $50 and plug into a wall outlet. Works like an ethernet access point if you already have a router.

"XBL states the service is "up and running"

Anyone confirm this as true?
