I love pretty much any ancient and modern earth (and beyond) mysteries whether of the natural kind or the supernatural kind.

The idea of advanced ancient civilizations is one of my favorite fantasies. I've done a lot of reading on Atlantis, Lemuria, etc. and even just civilizations we know (bits) about, like Egypt and Greece.

I'm just not sure about it though. It seems, if these civilizations were so advanced, we'd have found a bit more evidence. More machines, technology, structures, etc..

I'd guess our ancestors were just a lot more advanced than we like to give them credit for..

I'd guess if you believe in faked moon landings and governmental assassinations of presidents you'd have to, at least partially, believe in that sort of thing, no?

They just cannot get here, life exists elsewhere. But even at the speed of 1000light years an hour it would take 1000s of years... they would miss us by a couple galaxies are more.

If we have had visitors, they are not aliens. They are time travelers from our future that have evolved.

And this is the problem with belief structures. As soon as you choose your team, as soon as you say "it can only be this, anything else is impossible" you have closed your mind to every other possibility. At that point any inkling of honest study of the unexplained is finished, because all you have are people looking for evidence to support what they already believe. And all semblance of discussion is over. You're only left with various entrenched groups slamming their heads against the wall to try and convince each other that their belief is the right belief, with nobody listening to a word of what anybody else is saying. You see this all over the UFO field. Unfortunately.

As far as extraterrestrials traveling here, I think in a way it's arrogant to believe that they can't simply because we can't. We're so young in terms of age of the universe. All that said, it doesn't mean anyone has, is or will ever visit here. But I wouldn't want to discount the possibility just because of our primitive understanding of the universe.

Same would be true for alternative ideas like time travel, or extra-dimensional beings inhabiting the same relative space, or even something as off the wall as having UFOs and ghosts being a similar phenomenon, that time is perhaps not a linear thing and we're somehow perceiving imprints of things that exist in different eras but can somehow creep into ours or exist everywhere at once.

No idea's too crazy to at least consider, although I'm a bit skeptical of the whole space brothers from zeta reticuli point of view.

And maybe it's more than one thing.

Here's the problem. I have no problem believing that there are Aliens capable of such feats of travel. But lets just say they sent 10 probes that could hit 3 star systems a day to explore JUST the Milky Way. There are about 300 billion stars plus billions more in globular clusters around the Milky Way. If each of the 10 probes could scan 3 star systems a day for life it would take on average 13,600,000 years to find us. Thats scanning only 1 galaxy. It there are 250,000,000,000 galaxies this would literally take an infinite amount of time to scan half the galaxies (on average to find ours) and then almost 14 million years to find us once they started on the Milky way. Plus ever other galaxy our size would take 28 million years to explore.

And thats assuming instant teleportation between star systems.

And it's basically based on nothing. Our science..... that most people don't even understand to begin with..... which is always changing.....

You're approaching this as if life is such an incredibly rare thing that it would require searching the entire cosmos just to find anything other than us. Which may be the case.

Another possibility is that life teems and said search is, was or will be conducted by a nearby civilization. Or perhaps we ourselves conduct said search in a few hundred or thousand years, and the labor produces fruit quickly. Or perhaps we ourselves already conducted said search in a remote past forgotten to history. Or perhaps life only exists in one in a trillion habitable worlds and looking for it at all is a complete and total waste of time, at least until some day in the distant future we spread to the empty stars and populate them ourselves, and the extraterrestrials are us.

I should note that I try to avoid using the term 'alien' in this discussion because the meaning can be unclear. Something from Earth itself can be alien to our understanding. Also the term has basically become a pejorative, much as 'UFO' itself has, a way to mock by its very use, which is why you've seen the development of acronyms like UAP. So I try to run with extraterrestrial. Although sometimes I forget. Not saying anybody else should, just clarifying myself...
