It's good stuff.

I still don't understand why they have to play second fiddle to the Black Keys though.

sounds like an upbeat Broadcast...nice

the track featured in the video is BY FAR the most accessible song on the album. Some of the material falls squarely in the down-tempo, ambient and trance genres.

wild performance on Letterman....

The Black Keys are simply more marketable. I've never really listened to The Keys but I'm a huge Lips fan. That said, I dunno about this new stuff, gonna take a few listens though that guitar sound is reminding me of their old school stuff which is nice.

Yeah, I'm liking this sound more

Not my thing but I saw they re-released Zaireeka for Record Store Day.

I've always liked the Lips. Saw them in concert once, that was cool.

I've seen em a few times, but the last time was pretty funny. It was at an outdoor festival at night and the temp was in the 40s-50s. Between songs Wayne starts talking about his admiration for Led Zeppelin and imagines all the people back then getting naked in the crowd. He asked everyone to get naked for the next song which was a Zeppelin cover, but it was so cold that I literally only saw one DUDE in the crowd strip down. To the Lips credit, they brought a theater troupe of girls on stage that were all nekkid and dancing around. I lost my keys in the crowd that night, but it was worth it!

I get that. It just seems weird that you could see the Lips perform with that huge over the top atmosphere and suddenly two dudes come out on stage to wrap up the night.

Way more listenable and enjoyable, to me, than Embryonic.

I'd seen them in concert recently and was worried that they'd veered off the deep end into unlistenable dreck, but this is pretty pleasant.

you know one bad thing about The Lips? When you are talking music with people that are a little younger, it seems like most of the time if I bring up the Flaming Lips in whatever conversation, it always get's awkward really quick. I'm pretty sure that they think Flaming Lips sounds like a gay band and it seems a lot of people never heard of them.

Wut?

If anything I would expect older people to feel that way. How do they react to Queen or Motörhead?
