Pat Mahomes Sr arrested for 3rd DWI

https://www.cbs19.tv/amp/article/new...d-2be4d954c719

TYLER, Texas — A week before the Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes Sr. is behind bars for driving while intoxicated 3rd or more.

According to Smith County judicial records, Mahomes was taken into custody by Tyler police Saturday night. Bond is expected to be set later Sunday morning.

In 2019, Mahomes was sentenced to 40 days in jail for DWI second or more. Judicial records state he served weekends to fulfill that sentence.

Sheesh, nice timing pops

If my alcoholic middle class ass can make it this far without getting a DUI, there's no reason why millionaires should be getting them.

Use your brains people.

He does. Been there when he's played. Never played with him but he comes, gets absolutely hammered and plays 1/2. He's always on brand though drinking Coors Lights. People say he's a jovial drunk though.

philfree 02-04-2024 01:47 PM

It sucks but I have a feeling Patrick Mahomes II is used to stuff like this and he'll handle it. Honestly there seems to be some disfunction that's gone on throughout his life.

notorious 02-04-2024 01:47 PM

Not saying Pat needs to do this, but if I were worth 1/2 billion, I would pay a couple of guys pretty good money to be my alcoholic dad's handler.

Driving drunk has nothing to do with being able to afford a ride. It's an ego thing. Need to take the decision out of his hands.

Rain Man 02-04-2024 01:47 PM

This is shocking to me. His dad has always come across as a nice guy and a responsible adult. This is terrible decisionmaking, especially if it's happened twice before.

We've got your back, Patrick II. We're here for you.

If he served 40 days before, it's going to be a substantial sentence this time around.

It’s still not good. Last time you had a very distracted head coach, which impacted the entire team. Now it’s potentially the most important player on the team. Patrick has been a very focused guy during the 3 Playoff games this year, but it will be a major challenge for him to set aside his father’s problems and bring his A-game next weekend. Tom Brady’s family never sabotaged him like this. Frustrating as hell that Patrick’s father & brother seem to be incapable of keeping a low profile.

FlaChief58 02-04-2024 01:55 PM

As dumb as this sounds, usually you just want the night to be over. You don't want to have to come back the next morning and pick up your car.

When I got mine 15 years ago it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I deserved it. I needed it. Made me alot more responsible.

There's no excuse for this, especially if you've got a history of DUIs. If you're going out and planning to drink, Uber over so you don't have a car when you want to go home. This is basic stuff that anyone smarter than Garrett Bolles could figure out.

Yes we know you're the chicken little who is always super worried about the Chiefs and never their opponent but I doubt this is a big deal.

Mahomes has tons of money. His dad will be out of this just like his brother. His dad (to our knowledge) didn't get hurt or hurt anybody else.

Stop thinking this is gonna ruin Mahomes mindset before the SB. FFS the kid isn't weak

stevegroganfan 02-04-2024 02:07 PM

"A third DWI in Texas carries two to ten years in state prison."

Now he could get less time for good behavior et cetera but if this is truly 3rd offense in Texas, I would think he is facing 3 to 6 months in jail at a minimum if he is convicted.

Not good but Reid situation much worse from a human perspective.
Given that this is Mahomes Sr. 3rd offense, he is probably an alcoholic so he should enter a rehab facility ASAP. Okay for him to be let out to attend Super Bowl but even that should be supervised.

I once did research interviews with people who have driven drunk, and some people said that very thing.

I had to not laugh at one guy, though. He said, "If I've been drinking, I'm extra careful to not get caught. I'll drive under the speed limit. I'll stay at a stop light a couple of extra seconds after it turns green. Stuff like that. I don't want to get pulled over for something and have them find out I'm drunk."

Those are exactly the behaviors that cops look for, you maroon.

I know. I had a semi-friend in high school who had drinking issues and he said exactly that. A few months later, he slammed his VW into a tree at 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.

In my 20s my group of friends i used to drink/go to bars with seemed like they were having a contest to see who could get the most DUIs. I would either walk or uber/cab. I got to the point where every Saturday my car was parked in the same spot at the bar. An uber is like 1.5 drinks. Beats a year+ of hassle and fines.

wazu 02-04-2024 02:19 PM

TMZ story says for his LAST DUI which was in 2019, he served 40 days in jail, but they let him serve it on the weekends. The penalty for a 3rd or more is up to 10 years. I'm sure he won't get that but if the best he was able to do was 40 days in jail last time I'm gonna guess it gets considerably worse this time.

Patrick didn’t just wake up this morning and realize his dad is irresponsible. The timing is unfortunate but the team will rally around him and he will shut out all the outside voices.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-04-2024 02:22 PM

It’s not anything like Britt Reid in that most of our players don’t know him or give a shit.

Sucks for Patrick though. But I don’t see it impacting his play in the moment. It’ll just be a bummer postgame to not see him there, if he can’t go.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-04-2024 02:27 PM

I mean Britt Reid was in the building coaching every single day, he was Andy’s son, and he almost killed a young child.

No it's not even in the same zip code of level of awful. But you know what? I'd just like to have this game without any ****ing massive off field distractions. I know it's a lot to ask.
