Chiefsplanet.com is now showing up for me as Not Secure.

Graystoke 10-29-2018 05:23 PM

Being a Chiefs fan I am never secure

Rain Man 10-29-2018 05:23 PM

Curses. I've been caught.

CasselGotPeedOn 10-29-2018 05:23 PM

If I were you, I'd never visit this site again.

-King- 10-29-2018 05:23 PM

Whoa. My password is my social security number. You think I should change that now?

I would have to agree IMO

bdj23 10-29-2018 05:24 PM

I've noticed that too.

FAX 10-29-2018 05:26 PM

Yes. But it doesn't say "not secure from everything".

There's still hope.

ToxSocks 10-29-2018 05:27 PM

It's been like that for a loooong ass time. At least for me.

Basically someone needs to secure the site with https://

htismaqe 10-29-2018 05:30 PM

It's really not unsafe, unless you're using the same password for CP and for your bank or something.

All it means is that your username and password are being sent "in the clear" when you login, so someone could theoretically see them if they were inspecting traffic going to and from the site.

Hammock Parties 10-29-2018 05:31 PM

that gochiefs scalawag puts a virus in every thread!!!

Sofa King 10-29-2018 05:35 PM

Actually, this is interesting timing. My antivirus on my home computer stopped a trojan when i was on CP yesterday. Can't remember what i was doing to be honest. I chalked it up as "bullshit" and moved on.

Kiimo 10-29-2018 05:47 PM

The airport wifi listed this site as "unsafe" and wouldn't let me use it. The reasons were "guns" and I was like yeah that makes sense.

MahiMike 10-29-2018 05:49 PM

It's the end of the month too. We need to send in our credit card payments...

Yep. Not that it's a good thing, but it's always been this way. Chrome is just now deciding to tell people about it.

AustinChief could theoretically purchase and install an SSL cert to make it secure, but I'm not sure it's a priority for him.

Until then, don't use important passwords here. Go figure.

What I remember from another forum

Chrome wants to make everything more secure. Mostly by killing access to Flash. Many want Flash killed anyway.

Websites and hosts are expected to have a secure certificate very soon, or they may be inaccessible by Chrome. Especially if they have flash. You will be asked to accept flash for now-that capability may end if support for flash is discontinued soon.

So you should type https instead of http to see if a secure site is available.

I had to work with my network administrator to get my weather website secure.

Feel free to add or correct any info I have here. I am a noob with that behind the scenes stuff on a network.

Simply Red 10-29-2018 06:05 PM

it's not the end of the world - you're not processing any CC info on here - it'll be fine - chill.

I can't check it now but I'm pretty sure CP has a let's encrypt cert installed. It doesnt redirect http traffic to https. The site is sorta broken on mobile via https

Simplicity 10-29-2018 06:21 PM

5 points of pressure and you'll be fine.

I have no idea if it affects anything, but whenever I use Tapatalk for CP, it dutifully let’s me know. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...558d8bdfd2.jpg

Hmm...it works otherwise? I can try to look into it. Looks like our account there is gone, but that might be on AC to take care of.

I don't know what this plugin is supposed to do. If it's supposed to rake my leaves, it's not working at ALL.

I just see the alert every time and thought this was good as any thread to bring it up.

This is correct. The site is secure if you type in https:// instead of http://

Click here to see... https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?p=13854354

Although you will get messages saying it is not "fully secure" because there are some images loading from http instead of https.. not a big deal.

TrebMaxx 10-29-2018 09:32 PM

I've been using the https address for a long time. And yes you do get a warning about images but like AustinChief said "not a big deal".

Would it be difficult to add an http --> https redirect? Or would that break stuff?

Is this like, when you click on a thread, or tried to post a reply, then it gives you the error that you aren't logged in? Then you either refresh it or go back, and tried it again, and it worked afterwards after either one try or multiple tries?

No, this is trying to login from the home page. I log in then get the error. Back out, go to the lounge, and I'm actually logged in.

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

I have a windows at school that collects weather data. restart it about every 4 months.

This is really a browser issue. Mac has refused access to Flash for a few years.
The death of flash is coming. Sad. Because there are really good things on websites from flash.

I haven't had a Flash plugin in 4+ years. Can't think of anything I've wanted to view that I couldn't.

PS: I use my iMac about 12 hours a day every day for various tasks. It's not just "collecting weather data". ;)

I just made a tweak on the backend of the site that, in theory, will force everyone over to HTTPS instead of HTTP. That should get rid of the "not secure" thing, but it might also have some unintended consequences.

If any of you notice anything weird that might be related to that, let me know.
