How about that piece of shit elevate his game.

They need to have an affair of the heart out there. Marty wherever you are out there I just hope you have forgotten the once proud KC defenses you fielded because this bunch would break your heart.

Sutton should elevate his game by jumping on the grenade and retiring tonight.

Maybe they should hire a new tackling coach.

Thread title is 4 words too long

let them play THEIR game and stop telling them to play 9 god damned yards off the line - they're NOT as bad as they've shown - he's coaching them like a reerun. they're attackers not reactors.

The irony of everyone whining about Sutton is priceless.
He should of been replaced 4-5 years ago when everyone was blowing his hose.... |
bob sutton has brought great shame to our people

...good.
He's right. If they can play anywhere near the way they did against Jax... |
^ Need to play against Blake every week. Good call.

Get all elevated up.

Gunther would just yell louder. That didn't work either.

I feel like Bob Sutton is oblivious to the fact that he's a useless piece of shit.

"Chiefs fans looking for Buttons to elevate his game."
Whether you value Peter King's FB opinion or not, he essentially eviscerated Buttons in his (widely popular) MMQB column this week by dissecting the moronic defense Gramps called that allowed Brady to waltz his old ass into the endzone. He does it sort of on the sly but you can tell he is absolutely flabbergasted at how stupid the D call was: "Third-and-goal from the Chiefs’ 4-yard line, 5:32 left in the game, Chiefs up 33-30. After watching the replay six or eight times, this sticks out: Kansas City rushes three and drops eight into coverage. Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton did something I’ve never seen before—assuming I saw what I think I saw. • Julian Edelman, double-covered, bracketed by Steven Nelson and Jordan Lucas. • Rob Gronkowski, double-covered by safeties Josh Shaw and Ron Parker. • James White, double-covered by linebackers Anthony Hitchens and Dee Ford. • Two other receivers, Josh Gordon and Chris Hogan, singled. I don’t recall ever seeing a defense double three men on one play, but Chiefs defensive coordinator Bob Sutton—who gets a ton of respect from the Patriots—doesn’t play by everyone else’s rules. So Kansas City rushed three: linemen Chris Jones and Allen Bailey, and linebacker Breeland Speaks. Though Speaks almost sacked Brady, and I’ll never figure out why he didn’t follow through on what could have been a drive-stopping sack, Brady got free. (Editor’s note: Speaks had a new rule on his mind.) On the replay, you see these eight cover guys myopically taking their men out of the play. But they weren’t looking at Brady. He had to be looking over the field and thinking, This is the damndest thing I’ve ever seen: three of my guys doubled! But the upshot of that was a big patch of green between Brady around the five and the end zone, and … “I’ve got to watch it tomorrow,” Brady said around midnight, “but I got close to the goal line and figured I’d try to get in. We needed it.” Who does this? Who devotes six men to three of the opposition? Sutton did, and it almost worked. But Brady, who has a ton of one-yard sneaks for scores, rarely runs near the goal line from any length like this one. He dove (Gisele had to be covering her eyes) and made it. Semi-lunacy there" Link with a lot of other Chiefs stuff in it too: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-6-peter-king/ |
Renowned professional writer doesn’t notice that Speaks sack wouldn’t have mattered due to the penalty.

It's just coachspeak. They could be planning to gut the defense in the offseason because they know almost everyone is terrible, but he's never going to say that. Coaches are always just going to make non-statements like "need to elevate our game" "I need to do a better job" "happy with our guys" "we'll get it fixed" "we're on to Cincinnati" and other such BS. People read too much into these comments.

Given this a lot of thought the past two years. I think Sutton is attempting to run an obsolete defense at its core. It has Ryan roots. I think its obsolete because offensive players and strategies have changed, in addition to rules. The players are too fast for this scheme now, and its too hard to find defensive players that can force this thing to work. Sub-packaging isn't enough. I never like to blame failure on scheme alone, BUT, we all remember the Greg Robinson days. The fact was that Robinson's defenses over the years were either really great or incredibly bad, there was no middle ground. Vermeil's stubbornness cost us a Super Bowl in my view by hanging with Greg a year too long. I think Sutton has found himself in a similar situation. That said, the tape reveals 3 noticeable things...Hitchens and Ragland are just not cutting it in this scheme. Parker is too slow, and we aren't getting what we COULD get from Jones.
Beyond that...I don't think Houston is worth the money at that position - he just misses too much time. Berry isn't worth the trouble either at this point, money too, although if he played he disguises a lot of problems. I've been a bit disappointed in Fuller (missed tackles). I'd rather see Speaks take Bailey's spot next year and see how it goes. Not sure he can, and not confident he'll lose weight either. I expect Nelson to be gone next year. So obviously more change is coming. The biggest mystery is where is Dorian ODaniel and exactly why isn't he on the field. My best guess...they are prepping him for late in the season so nobody has any tape on what they are going to do. It could be magic in a bottle that takes a good deal of practice to set up. If that's the case, I love it as long as we keep winning as they get him ready. I just don't believe his ability is what is keeping him on the bench. |

Chiefsplanet's Rain Man looking for defense to elevate its game

When you have an offense like ours, you just need the defense to not give up cheap easy TDs and most importantly, create turnovers. It puts tremendous pressure on the other offense to keep up or catch up and of course that leads to, more turnovers. Go for strips, go for picks, etc. Basically, I'd probably play zone and have them jump the ball often. I don't know what else you do with this group besides that.

Bucs have the worst defense in the league? Fire their DC.
Cardinals have the worst offense in the league? Fire their OC. Chiefs defense sucks? But hey....we're 5-1!!! |

The problems with making the opposing O use 10-12 plays to score are twofold. First, it makes your D stay on the field too long and secondly, keeps your O off the field. Instead of playing it that way, why don't we just force some 3-and-outs.

Andy’s kid? That mongoloid ILB’s coach? 90 year old Emmit Thomas? Al Harris? The scheme isn’t ****ing changing. They don’t have time to implement a ton of new shit in season. Whether Sutton leaves or not, it’s rhe same goddamn defense the rest of the season. |

Can't wait until I'm pulling my hair out for a good portion of the game when we are on defense. Hopefully Ford, Kpass & Speaks are able to create some pressure and get Dalton on his backside
Also, fire Bob Sutton |
Hey .... they used leather helmets back in 1940. Lots of guys didn't even wear thigh pads or rubber mouth-things. That was real football back then ... real football played by real men with real mental health issues.
Let's remember that everything is cyclical. It could well be that we're seeing the wheel of time turning back on itself and ushering in an emerging new age of bad-ass. Imagine how tired offenses are going to get after a bunch of 14-play drives against us. Plus, they're going to run out of plays eventually. What will they do then? FAX THE OPTIMISTIC |
Is Greg Robinson available? Might be an improvement.
|
this is like tripling down on "it's the players not the scheme." After that playoff loss it was the players not the scheme. They go out and overhaul most of the defense with younger, faster and it's even worse. So what do they do? Blame all those players too. Makes sense.

Clark has to step in and tell Andy Sutton isn't welcome back. He is loyal to a fault.
