How bad was the decision to not keep Rodney Hudson?
Hudsen has gone on to become one of the best centers in the league for the Raiders while we've had nothing but trouble with the center position ever since.
I imagine that shitty Andy Heck makes a difference but still, not good. :( https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...season#slide16 2. Rodney Hudson, Oakland Raiders Jeff Haynes/Associated Press Pass Protection: 22/25 Run Block: 19/25 Power: 18/20 Agility: 16/20 Position Value: 6/10 Overall Grade: 81/100 Rodney Hudson has developed into the NFL's best pass-protection center since arriving in Oakland in 2015, and he's been key in keeping Derek Carr upright on so many of his reps. Hudson's strength is the trump card, and when he combines that with his relentless effort and active feet, it's hard to generate leverage or get him out of position. —NFL1000 OL Scout Ethan Young Oakland's offense was a problem in 2017, and that included a line that regressed in both run and pass blocking. But when Hudson's isolated on tape, it's clear he's still a tremendous player. Few interior offensive linemen can match his combination of pure in-line power, body control and agility to and through the second level. —NFL1000 Lead Scout Doug Farrar |
Oh, FFS!! Morse is an above average center when healthy and he’s much cheaper than Hudson.
Stop being a little bitch!! |
Would it be nice to have him? Of course. Do I think we should be paying a center $10m per year? Nah.
|
We're fine at center.
Stop drinking so much Alexian jizz |
Screw paying a center than much.
|
LMAO what a stupid stupid thread.
|
Thread fail.
|
|
We haven’t won a super bowl because we have never developed a franchise center
|
Purdy bad
|
look at all these chiefs fans who have disagreed on multiple issues over the past five years, JakeF
they all think you're a ****ing moron you are the village idiot my son |
How bad was the decision to allow JakeF to have thread starting privileges?
|
Watch, this butt****ing moron will bring up the Houston contract as a reason why we should have paid out the ass for Rodney Hudson
|
Oh jeez let's go back at every trade, every free agent we let go, every draft pick, every signing and NOW evaluate it. Dumb ****ing thread!

We struggle at center because Morse can't stay healthy. It costs us at center because Morse doesn't seem to have the strength to move the big,fat guys on the inside. It really hurts on short yardage when your center is most effective when he has to pull. |
You don’t pay centers that kinda $$$$$.

The money that they are paying Hudson is part of the money that has them in cap hell now. Cap hell cost them Mack. Ask 100 NFL coaches and GMs. 99 of them would not sign Mack at that price if they know that it would lead to them being unable to afford their elite passrusher. In case you were wondering, the 1 out of 100 is ElFraud. But it would just be because he was drunk again.
|
Hudson was still a badass when he was with us. Our line has had its issues but not signing Hudson hasn’t been detrimental to our offense.
|
Change his name to JakeFdUp
|
When I was new here I made a stupid thread and got my name changed to dingleberry.

Morse has always been a ****in pussy OL. A finesse C made of glass.
Chiefs ran the ball better w/ Fulton at C. Hudson IMO just wasn't worth the cost. Doesn't matter, Chiefs won't win shit with Reid/Sutton. |

Little known fact: Rodney Hudson's cap hit this year is only 2.7 million. I don't think his number this year prevented Mack's signing.
|
Not sure about Hudson, but losing the others from the 2013 line was a killer. The last several games of that season the starters averaged 36 points/game, and that included a 7-point stinker vs the Colts. With garbage receivers and Smith in his first year of Reid's offense, btw.

He just makes a ton of money for a center, it's hard to justify that, the same as I'm sure some people are mad Fulton left and his contract is also stupid.
|
Why not trade for Hudson?
Gruden is doing a massive overhaul and we could use him. |

Of all the problems we have encountered since Hudson’s departure, I don’t think C is one of them.

No thanks, just the next bum off the street is better than overpaying Olinemen. Mahomes has proven a great QB makes a below average line better. If anything the guys give an extra 20% just to play with Mahomie.

The center is literally the least important player on an NFL offense.

Fullbacks contribute way more, which is why they're on the field more than the Center. lulz. |

All QB's play better behind good protection. The last thing I want is Kc playing budget trash OL like the Giants. If you have a superstar QB, protecting him from getting hit is important. I don't want to overpay everyone on the OL, but I sure as hell don't want a budget OL getting him hit extra times. There's a lot of room in between. A QB can make a bad OL look good, but a good OL makes a great QB unstoppable. |
Quote:
Have to 100% disagree with you. The center is important. Not like QBOTF or LTOTF important, but it's still important. Their responsibilities on a given play includes but is not limited to setting the protection and potentially sliding it in one direction, depending on the defensive look; identifying the "point linebacker," who triggers assignments for other offensive linemen; surveying safety depth and how it relates to the type of front being shown (even, odd, bear, and so on). |

We don't want to pull a Colt move and let our good young QB get pummeled because our offensive line is crap. As long as we field a decent offensive line our great young offensive talent will continue to destroy the NFL. Let's not **** it up. |
Chiefs 6-1
Chargers 5-2 Broncos 3-4 Raiders 1-5 Raiders are eating donkie ass as they are dead last in the division. As words of a true scholar says "We'll be fine" / Simply Red |
Terrible thread. Team is only scoring 40 PPG
|
Phil Simms just said on Inside the NFL that the Chiefs had a top 5 offensive line.

Dude was damn good no doubt, but we just couldn't afford him
It all worked out fine anyway, Morse was a decent enough fill in |
I went to a game and watched him and a very young Aaron Donald battle it out. First half the Chiefs had few answers for Donald. He strip sacked Alex Smith out of the gate. Second half, it was all Chiefs. Arrowhead was scared for a minute lol. Heck or a player.
|
I’ll never miss a chance to dunk on JakeF. Great thread, reerun.
|
Well, we only won 2 SBs without him.
So terrible decision! |
Also, we’re probably not paying Creed’s 2nd contract.
C is what it is. |
I don’t even remember this guy playing for us.

Chiefs have been the best organization in football, maybe in all of sports along with the Tampa Bay Lightning the last 5 years so I'd say not a big deal letting him go.
|
The JakeF plague has been longer than I thought
|
OBJr probably getting paid, probably by the Champs. Thumper Thuney going to play out or extended? Creed and Trey “Bad Mother ****er” Smith both got drafted same year. Do they pay them both? I love Creed, but Trey is amazing at what he does, too.
