30 year anniversary of the Big Mac

TLO 08-12-2018 05:08 PM

Slightly related, but slightly unrelated point - the fresh beef quarter pounders are quite tasty.

scho63 08-12-2018 05:13 PM

Big Mac's don't taste like they used to, no matter what McDonald's or anyone else claims.

Fish 08-12-2018 05:17 PM

I've eaten exactly 1 in my entire life. Hard meh.

McDonald’s is just like Pizza Hut. They’re in their own food category. What you get at Pizza Hut isn’t Pizza, it’s Pizza Hut.

You don’t get a burger at McDonald’s, you get McDonalds.

Both sound so good every couple of years, and then when you break down at eat it you realize there’s good reason you go years in between visits.

patteeu 08-12-2018 05:28 PM

I like the Big Mac. I usually discard the middle piece of bread though. More often, I’ll get a quarter pounder with cheese and substitute Big Mac sauce for the ketchup.

This is a good strategy. I approve.

rico 08-12-2018 05:30 PM

My goodness I love these. What I order every single time I go to McDonalds.

TLO 08-12-2018 05:33 PM

I don't much care for the pickles though, honestly.

I don't like the sauce at all. I don't like the shredded iceberg lettuce. The middle bread piece is just dumb filler making it too big and sloppy.

You can actually order it with no middle bun. Or take it off yourself. Just FYI for any readers who may be unaware.

then perhaps you should look up the first review - Review Brah agrees about the middle bun.

By the time I order it the way I like it, it's a long way from a Big Mac. I'll just stick with the Quarterpounder.

I really like this girl - she's pretty darned nice & funny - she seems to do well entertaining herself - I was skeptical at first thinking I'd think she was a bimbo. She's actually very sweet. Anyone watch Trisha? My only gripe is she never eats hamburgers.

I had my second fresh beef 1/4 cheese about 2 weeks ago. I still can tell no difference between this and the older version.

I will say this about McDonalds I have never gotten sick eating there. I cannot say the same for Wendy, Burger King, Sonic or Taco bell. Thats the really good thing I can say about them.

Baby Lee 08-12-2018 06:03 PM

Maybe it was the needs of a growing body, but in JHS/HS, those reconstituted onions on BigMacs and regular Cheezbuggaz were like crack.

We didn't have nearly the fast food options we do today, but I legit thought it was the best condiment in all of fast food for a while.

they're clever and work well. Nobody has copied them, which surprises me.

Shoes 08-12-2018 06:11 PM

Big Mac with no onions please. Big Macs are great- when other restaurants and burger places rip off Big Macs with proper patties, buns etc. they are dynamite.

I dont like thousand island dressing on a salad why would I want it on my burger.

srvy 08-12-2018 06:20 PM

I did get a message on my phone that if I download McDonald's app and ordered a big mac or fillet o fish it would only be one dollar. Thats about what they should be priced at always but I do like the fillet.

I will try and bow out now because I just wont order a Big Mac ever and I confused this with the fresh beef 1/4 pounder.

no don't bow out - we need transparency. It's fine - I HAVE noticed a huge difference in the fresh dorker pounder with cheese - that was for my ex-manager Ed who looked like Booger in RoTN, it's what he'd call them - I worked at the 40-Hwy location in Blue Springs when I was 15. LOL - it was my first job and also it's why I'm so responsible today!

I don’t like it on salad either but for some reason it works for me on the burger even though I don’t normally like sweet condiments like ketchup or relish.

excessive 08-12-2018 06:30 PM

I got a Big Mac once that had 3 patties instead of 2. It was like winning the lottery. Best Big Mac ever.

I think they tried doing a double Big Mac at one time. I remember trying something like that that really sucked.

A fortuitous a triple, though? Sublime.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-12-2018 06:33 PM

Simply Red...grill up a burger and stick it inside a freshly made grilled cheese sandwich and report back to me. A nice rye would be nice...

Pablo 08-12-2018 06:33 PM

I'm certainly not above hammering down some McDonald's in a drunken stupor. The Big Mac is decent, but I'm not paying whatever it costs, $5 for the sandwich alone or so.

Just get a McDouble and a McChicken w/ pickles for $2.50 and call it a day.

Honestly I cant see the comparison. I know Five Guys burger can get a bit grisley but it looks like beef and they get a crust on it from a grill. Open the bun on the fresh beef see if you see that crust my two didnt.

gblowfish 08-12-2018 06:37 PM

KC McD's did a special last season that when the Chiefs scored so many points or whatever, Big Macs were BOGO. There's a McD's about three blocks from where I work. I got pretty sick of Big Macs pretty quick. Haven't had one since last football season ended.

43 years ago I'm 16 and working at Mc being able to put recon onions on my 1/4 instead of the fresh ones made me feel like I was in the illuminati.

That was sacks for Macs or something like that. The rare time we got a sack I asked if I could substitute for a 1/4 cheese. They said no and so did I.

per Wiki -> The Big Mac is a hamburger sold by international fast food restaurant chain McDonald's. It was introduced in the Greater Pittsburgh area, United States, in 1967 and nationwide in 1968. It is one of the company's signature products

I have never had a Big Mac in my life. It's a bourgeois burger for the rich and pretentious. A quarter pounder with cheese meets my needs just fine without all of those fancy sauces and buns.

I REALLY would like for you to just try one - just once and then give us your assesment - is this doable as a favor for the CP community?

New World Order 08-12-2018 08:27 PM

Big Mac and fries at Mcdonalds is definitely a hunger craving for me.

As is LJS chicken and hush puppies.

Cheesy Gordita Crunch and Beefy 5 Layer Burrito at Taco Bell to a lesser extent.

If I ever run for office, it'll become a campaign issue about me abandoning the common man. I can envision the ad now.

"Rain Man says he's one of us, but if that's the case, why is he ordering burgers with special sauce, and with more bun segments than is necessary? Why does Rain Man think he's too good for the average quarter-pounder man on the corner?"

yes of course - was there in maybe 2011ish - they had one close by until like 2012 or so - they're pretty decent - I never recall being disappointed - of course back in the late 80's I'd go to the one on Noland Road near Red Lobster a few times per year. Always liked it, I think they had problems because they took so long to prepare - people are so impatient these days.
