2018 Hard Knocks Thread
Todd Haley trying to get Hue to toughen the team up and get more players out there practicing. Feels like I am back in 2009 listening to Haley talking about getting guys more mentally tough. Also, feel bad for Hue though with his mom dying.

Some might think I’m crazy but I can see the Browns getting 2nd in that division this year....
And 1st if Pittsburgh has injuries. |

It would be shitty for us bc we would play an incredibly pissed off Steelers team in their home opener, but how hilarious would it be if the Browns beat the Steelers at home week 1?

I'm so ready for the wheels to fall off for that organization. |

Hope Sammy Watkins was watching. |

Pittsburgh owns us anyway so I’d rather have them lose. |

It won't. The NFL loves the Rooneys too much. |

8.8 yards per catch is weak shit. |
Already like it better than last year's edition.
|
was last years the Buccaneers?
that one was really bad. too bad when we had our 1 shot at the show, we had Herm as the coach. |
I thought this had gotten kind of stale. Partially the teams/players and also the format. Youre always going to have those sad layoff shows at the end and that was rough and eye opening but once you've seen it so many times it stops having the same affect.
It sounds like this year is off to a good start though. I'll try it out on Go later |

Also, can someone hook me up with nassibs investment advisor? He's earning him some crazy compound interest on his investments.

I think the baker Mayfield and Josh Gordon storyline will make for plenty of drama.

Football, and being an exceptional athlete, is literally all alot of these guys have ever had / relied upon. and that's good for them. But think of the others who thought all along they were going to make millions in the NFL, so they didn't bother to learn the basics in life and education. then bam, outta of the league in a year. Yikes. again, not all of them. But there's a big group of them I would bet. |

I don’t understand what’s going on with Gordon... did he get tagged again? I thought he came back last year?
Crazy that he’s only 27. Baker Mayfield seems likable enough. |

Carl: So if you spend two hours a day on Instagram... that's a whole month out of a year you spend on Instagram. Teammate: What's wrong with that? |
Nothing makes me happier than seeing Todd Haley get ****ed in that coaches room.
I don't care if he's right or if he's wrong. He is subordinate to 1-31 Hue Jackson. It's a fate he deserves to re-live for the rest of his goddamn career. |
Was going to post this earlier, but they pulled it. Now it's back. If they pull it again, it wasn't me.
Full Ep, posted by HBO on YT. <iframe width="949" height="534" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/BWz_PCPCIdE" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I bet they hate that they’re on Hard Knocks here for Baker’s rookie year. I wouldn’t want to have to develop the young QB under a microscope like that.
|
My favorite player on that squad is Brogan Roback...
|
3 Observations after watching that.
Hugh Jackson is in way over his head. John Dorsey seems like a complete putz. They may have decent team though. The assistant coaches they have are all pretty tried and true. |
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Browns. The nostalgia of those AFCG with the Donks, one of the first clear memories I have of watching football with my brothers and dad on tv.
I always root for them unless it’s against the Chiefs. Man...that Jackson stuff was rough. Mom and brother died. Jeez. Can’t wait for them to actually start showing some actual stuff on the field instead of music montages with shitty music. |

A lot of narrative and subtext weaved in there, where rhythm and cadence is there, omnipresent, in both the discipline of his job and his outlet for relaxation. |

I had no idea that Landry was the leader he is. Pretty intense...and has always been a bit underrated, IMO. Tyrod Taylor looks like Eddie Griffin. |
Al Saunders sighting wow. this staff is like a who's who of Chiefs yesteryear.
|
Dorsey just walks around in a hat, sweater, shorts and sandals all the time. He also showed up to his introduction presser without wearing a suit/tie.
The guy doesn’t understand what it’s like to be in Management. |

Thanks! |
Hot take incoming:
Best thing that can happen to Cleveland is if Mayfield is shut down with an injury that forces Jackson's hand in playing Tyrod all year. |
I saw a clip where the white player was teaching investing to the brothas. Gold.

I think he was just using $100K/10% in the bank for illustrative purposes. |
I thought the episode was entertaining.
I felt bad for Hue. My girlfriend cried when they all bro hugged and he broke down. I'm rooting for them every week except the one they play KC. |
Browns about to play now. Guess I’ll kill an hour on it.

If Tyrod can get the Browns 6 wins, and I think he can, that's a huge win for the Browns. |

Damn! 39 yards for Barkley on his first carry!
|
Barkley is gonna be a stud, no doubt.

Landry will be fun to watch.

Browns are still a bunch of ****ups.
|
Hernandez would have been a beast at LG for the Chiefs.
|
Man, Hendricks really stopped Eli's forward progress!!
|
Dass No Joku
|
Even without Gordon the Browns have a lot of weapons. Especially if Njoku can hold onto the ball
|
Cleveland really does have some playmakers, especially if Gordon is there. Problem is, I doubt he is.

Hue promised everybody that Josh would be there... sooner or later! I definitely believe him!

Waiting For Gordotn

I'm actually interested in this season of Hard Knocks, first episode was pretty solid.
I still think Hugh is in over his ski's, that whole speech to his coaches about its my team and my way was bad leadership in my opinion. He is lucky to have such experienced veteran assistants. I would rather have most of them over him any day. Including Haley. |
Baker isn’t doing too bad. Some iffy decisions here and there but a decent job I’d say.

It took 1 quarter for Baker Mayfield to show he’s better than Paxton’s Lynch ROFL

I always liked Haley, and Hard Knocks is doing nothing to change that. |

I really enjoyed episode 2. Hugh came across much better. And I dont care who you are Haley is ****ing hilarious.

Looks like the Browns fans like MoHillbilly's Ol'Gregg, too.
|
Great episode this week.
Lots of interesting insights. Entertaining 'rookie show night' I actually teared up a bit rooting for Tyrod. Dude is determined. Baller when they made him take a snap in the locker room with his taped wrist/finger to assess his health. Snatched it out of the air, tossed it to a trainer and walked out the room. |
It's pretty clear that Hue isn't capable of running an NFL team. The talent Dorsey brought in should win them a couple games, but I don't see a dramatic turnaround happening.
Dorsey is gonna be picking his own HC in January. Will be interesting to see if it's Haley or McCarthy becomes available. |
