Mularkey out in Tennessee
WTF? I thought I read last night that they agreed to a contract extension

Filed to ESPN: the Titans and head coach Mike Mularkey have mutually agreed to part ways, according to a league source.
— Field Yates (@FieldYates) January 15, 2018

I wonder if ownership was trying to force staff changes on him.
|
We suck so bad, beating us with an 18 point comeback in the playoffs won't save your coach's job lol smh

:hmmm: |
And yet we still continue to keep Sutton despite blowing two leads in the playoffs.
**** this organization. Clark Hunt and Andy Reid both ****ing suck. |
Their GM was with the Patriots for 11 years. They’re going to go after Josh McDaniels.
|
it's really sad that we lost to a team that was looking for any out to fire their coach.

This has been building. The QB and entire offense has regressed from last year. The Tits have some pieces to be good / very good but Mularkey is nothing more the Jeff Fisher 2.0.
And given what O'Brien did in Houston with Watson the TN ownership (still based in Houston) wants a better offensive mind. Or at least one that has an offensive game plan from this century. |

This. |
I hope McDaniels turns them down and the Titans are left with Jeff Fisher. LMAO
|
Hmmmm, interesting....not surprising, but surprising at the same time.
|
Interesting timing... went 2-7 as the interim, then back to bavk 9-7 with a 1-1 playoff record this year. I haven't watched them closely, so who knows. They must really want a shot at one of these guys coming off playoff teams.
|
No one's impressed by beating the Chiefs in the playoffs.
I envision Alec Baldwin in "Glengarry Glen Ross": Nice guy? I don't give a shit. Good father? **** you! Go home and play with your kids. Beat the Chiefs? Hit the bricks! |

Word is they demanded he fire the OC and was refused.
|
And the Chiefs lost to this guy after leading at home by 18 points. If they won’t fire Reid, at least get rid of Sutton.

Get Dick LeBeau in here now
|
I wonder what mediocre team will pick him up. The colts and lions seem to fit that bill, although the lions apparently are the favorite for Matt Patricia.
Wishful thinking, but wouldn't mind poaching their defensive staff. Lebeau is too old but spanos seems plenty experienced |

Haha, we lost to a team looking for any reason to fire their coach.
JFC, this team is painful to follow. |
Wow!
|
Wins a playoff game, gets fired.
Our coach loses playoff games in the most historical way possible yet powers on. |

Fat Marty lost in the playoffs to a head coach who was subsequently fired.

The issue is Bud Adams' will didn't designate a control person of the team after he died. One of his children is trying to sell a stake in the team. And as mentioned earlier, the family is based out of Houston. |
I doubt they leave Tennessee. They are supposed pretty well there. Not to mention a lack of destination cities. They want to force London? Give St. Louis, Oakland, or San Diego another team? Portland or San Antonio? Canada/Mexico?

So Tennessee “parts ways” with their HC, and 2 of the 3 non-Chiefs teams who lost on Wild Card weekend have fired assistant coaches (the LA Rams whose coaching staff is in its first season did not), yet Clark Hunt’s franchise sees no need to fire a single coach after a historic playoff choke job.
Exhibit A for this shithole franchise’s commitment to mediocrity. |

don't worry; the loss is on Andy, and he's going to work harder.

Anyone can beat the Chiefs in the playoffs.

Does Mullarkey have really bad breath or something? He only got 1 year in Jax and was doing a good job in Tennessee. What's up w/this guy?
|
What a bunch of mularkey
Spoiler!

I'm at the point now that the thought of Mahomes starting in two years doesn't even excite me. (Count me as surprised if Fat Andy lets go of Alex this off season. He needs his security blanket to win 9-10 games). |

If that's good I'd hate to see bad. Seriously, even Marty thinks this guy is too conservative. |
I'm in a restaurant and there's no sound on the TV because their muzak is playing Freebird really, really loudly. The TV is on ESPN, and this is the text teaser for their next segment:
"Did the refs cost Mike Mularkey his job?" I must be remembering something wrong. |

Mularkey: "Where's Jeff Triplette when you need him?"

Of course, you should fire a coach automatically for complaining about the refs at halftime. That's not going to get you any calls in the second half. |

If I was the Titans I would hire LaFleur. Not sure why there isn’t more hype about this guy. He is a lot like Nagy.
Made his way up in the Shannahan tree and revitalized Jared Goff’s career as the OC. Patriots coaching tree sucks. Get this guy. |
The Titans need an offensive minded HC that isn't stuck in the "smash mouth" style of offense. Mariota and Henry are a damn good QB/RB combo to work with.

Just wait for all of the DPI that the Jags defense gets throughout the AFC Championship game.
