A question for Chief fans

I was wondering if you guys remembered an overtime game against my Packers back in 2003 at Lambeau field where you guys came back and beat us. I have to say out of the top 15 Packer losses that ranks right up there as the most heartbreaking as far as regular season games go. We had you guys and you were one of the best teams in the league that year. I remember it took me a couple weeks to get over that loss. That said I thought I would ask you guys if you remembered it or were at the game? Congrats on your win yesterday and you looked like the old Chiefs that started the year 4-0. Always like seeing you do well and I hope you guys make the playoffs. I hope you all have a good Christmas as well.

RealSNR 12-11-2017 06:07 PM

You seem like a nice guy. Very sweet and thoughtful post.

Hammock Parties 12-11-2017 06:09 PM

Yeah but the Packers won a playoff game that year. The Chiefs didn't.

Chiefs fail.

Marcellus 12-11-2017 06:10 PM

Trent Green threw a play action bomb to Eddie Kennison down the sideline to win it in OT if I remember correctly.

Oh this - for sure!

Ming the Merciless 12-11-2017 06:11 PM

Eddie Kennison caught the game winner in overtime..from Trent Green.

That season ended in heartbreak for us....

That team was the best offense the Chiefs ever had.....

Here's the box score:

Oh and

You seem nice

arrwheader 12-11-2017 06:18 PM

I remember a game in 2011 where the Chiefs sucked and fired Todd Haley and we beat the packers which set up our next 2-12 season. It was great!

Packfan12 12-11-2017 06:21 PM

I remember how devasted I was after that loss. I admit I was bitter at the Chiefs after that but 2 weeks later I forgave you guys. Then you ended our undefeated streak in 2011. You guys always play us tough tooth and nail. How is Frank Zombo doing there, is he still there. I wish we still had him on our team and of course Andy Reid used to be our O coordinator back in the 90s.

lewdog 12-11-2017 06:23 PM

Go **** yourself OP!

What a great team that choked away a playoff game.

Thanks for the reminder, asshole!!!

That one hurt our hearts too. I think that game you could tell we were flat from the beginning. Heck I remember seeing the team come out of the locker room onto the field pregame and Rodgers was yawning. I knew right there and then this could be a dangerous game.

I wasn't reminding you guys of that. I was reminding you guys of the good memories you had during that season. I would have liked to see you guys win it all that year. Heck in 97 we could have faced you in the Superbowl again.

Everybody I've met from Wisconsin is either incredibly nice, incredibly drunk or both.

Can't say I felt sorry for you guys, but I've always liked the Packers.

displacedinMN 12-11-2017 07:12 PM

Definitely remember it. We were supposed to go-but the coworkers bailed. Watched it at home with a serious hangover.

Sorry-but most Packer fans I talk to are insufferable.

Sorry for your experience but I don't think many of us are like that. We try to treat everyone else with class at least I hope many of us do. Sorry for your experience.

Black Bob 12-11-2017 07:24 PM

Seems like Jerome Woods got a pick. Then, the first play on offense was the play action bomb to Kennison.

cooper barrett 12-11-2017 07:35 PM

Lewdog,

Where the **** are your manners?

If the guys a "Packer Fan" let it go. Some say it's in their genes and they were born that way....Others had a problematic childhoods, poor relations with their fathers...

I just wish they would have kept Bill Maas up in Green Bay... those two could be buddies.

It was a fumble recovery. I posted the video above.

Packfan12 12-11-2017 07:48 PM

No it was a pick off a tipped pass and Woods returned it for a TD. I also remember that pick took the wind out of our sails and the momentum totally changed to your favor. I think you guys beat us the year we won the Superbowl too in 1996 if I'm correct?

Sannyasi 12-11-2017 08:00 PM

That fumble and then the Kennison bomb were absolutely shocking... It seemed like you guys had all the momentum before those two big plays. That was a great game though.

I will never forget that game, my second of 6 trips to Lambeau during my time in the Chicago area. Our largest vendor had 3 seats about the 45 right behind the visitors bench. He gave them to me for each time the Chiefs were there and I went to a couple others.

The 2003 game was an amazing day and all the Packer fans were pure class.

Sorry guys but for an outsider fan to come on this board and give positive "feedback" is extremely cool with me. They lost AR and still kicked ass with their backup BH. Very nice fellow here:clap::clap::clap:

I remember that game..GB was driving into field goal range, Ahman Green fumbled the ball, KC recovered. First play, Play action from Green, Deep touchdown pass to Kennison to end the game in OT

I love your city. I went to a Royals Tigers game back in the Summer of 2016 and had a blast. That was the game J.D. Martinez broke his elbow when he hit the wall going for the Homerun ball. After the game I went across the street to Denny's and had breakfast late at night and watched the NBA Finals between Cleveland and Golden State at the restaurant. I loved how the Interstate is right next to the stadium and it feels like your out in the country but your only 10 miles from the city. Has Interstate 71 always run by the stadium in all the years you guys have lived there?

Sprint Center wasn't there yet so it had to be Municipal Auditorium. It hosted three of the first four NCAA Basketball's Final Fours. A total of 9 Final Four tournaments were held there.

I love that game Pack fan. One of my favorite Chiefs games of all time. I believe KC broke some kinda of Favre or Lambeau record that year for a comeback.

Anyone remember what that record was? I think it had something to do with Favre at home not losing. Can't remember the specifics though.

Probably so. And does that record still stand since Rodgers took over? I mean, is KC still #1 for that record?

I remember seeing during those years that the Chiefs were the #1 team vs NFC teams for a long time. For some reason we'd play an NFC team, and every time no matter who it was, we'd destroy them. Look at Vick @ Arrowhead in 2004.

And then 2005 came and the Eagles and Giants whooped our shitty defense.

What other games come to mind where you whooped an NFC team at Arrowhead? Yeah I believe it still stands as of today. I remember we had a 31-7 halftime lead against Atlanta in 2014 and hung on to win by the skin of our teeth but that's the closest I think any team has come since then to coming back from a huge deficit.

I'm going to stick with 01-05 Chiefs.

Destroyed the Redskins in 2001, that was the game in which KC realized Priest Holmes was actually good.

But we defeated the Rams pretty well in 02 I believe. It was a huge shocker as they were coming off the SB season.

02 was a bit of a down year. I believe we finished 7-9 or 8-8.

Priest Holmes broke the single season rushing TD record Vs the Bears in week 17 in a thrashing.

Those are the ones that stick out. I may be thinking of a different era, I'm not sure.

I remember you guys thrashing the Patriots at home 2 years ago and I remember you guys beating a good Romo led Cowboys team at Arrowhead too.

Packfan12 12-11-2017 10:52 PM

That's the one awesome thing about KC. It doesn't matter how good or how bad they are any great NFC team that goes there either gets blown out or they lose in a heartbreaker or they win in a really tight game. The Chiefs play very tough at Arrowhead. My Packers won there in 2007 but it was a really close game and Woodson saved the day for us with a Pick six that day. In 1996 and 2011 we had Superbowl caliber teams and won the Superbowl 1 out of those 2 years. In both those years we went to Arrowhead and we got beat both times. You guys just play tough out there.

IowaHawkeyeChief 12-11-2017 10:56 PM

That was my one and only trip to Lambeau... Great experience, I actually have a pic of Green throwing that pass in OT on my office wall...

In real time it looked like a terribly ill advised throw into good coverage. But the ball seemed like it passed straight through the defender, defying physics. Still not sure how the ball got to Kennison.

02 was a bit of a down year. I believe we finished 7-9 or 8-8.

Priest Holmes broke the single season rushing TD record Vs the Bears in week 17 in a thrashing.

Those are the ones that stick out. I may be thinking of a different era, I'm not sure.

I'm pretty sure Warren Moon was qbing for the St Louis game, he was slinging the ball everywhere. I'm too young to remember the bulk of his career, but his legacy for me was established in that game.

Edit: that was the 2000 game vs the rams where Moon came in in the 4th and completed 3 passes for 78 yards, one being a bomb TD

Welcome to the Planet, OP. You seem cool, hope you continue to post.

I remember that game too! Because i bet my Christmas bonus (like $450) on the Packers to win that game.

And in true Chiefs fashion, they ****ed me over and won.

I love KC the city, Chiefs and their fans. You guys are great!

On my phone so I can't embed. This was one of my earliest Chiefs memories.

What a great game.

Damn Trent put that ball right on the money.

Alex would have underthrown it by 3 yards

Actually was at the Game. It was my first and only trip to Green Bay. Was obviously a thrilling win for us. Have to say Packers fans were great both before and after the loss. Considering how heartbreaking the loss was, that says a lot about your fans IMO.

Did any of our fans think we had the game won with a 17 point lead?

I remember sneaking out of work to watch that game at bar across the street.

I wasn't reminding you guys of that. I was reminding you guys of the good memories you had during that season. I would have liked to see you guys win it all that year. Heck in 97 we could have faced you in the Superbowl again.

Now you bring up 97. We don't want to talk about that either.

I was at that game. My crew I tailgate with all drove up to Chicago and stayed Friday night in Chicago, then drove up to Green Bay Saturday. We sat in the Stadium View bar across the street from Lambeau, and drank and ate all day watching college football. Then we went there again Sunday am for the awesome bloody mary bar before heading into the game. If I remember right, Ahman Green fumbled, KC got the ball, and Trent Green hit Eddie Kennison for a long TD to win it. The packer fans were awesome and congratulated us on the win and asked us to come to a bunch of different tailgates where we ate brats, drank beer, and had a blast.

I will have to GTFO. I have no pics from that game, it was too long ago. I don't think my phone took pics back then. There were two steak houses right outside the parking lot. One was Brett (Brent) Favre's, the other was a place you cooked your own steak over a hugh firepit. We went to the latter. Not sure if Favre's is still there after he went to Minny and played for the rival for a year.

I was working with a TV staff in Wausau in 2005 when this game came up for discussion during a break. Then someone came in to announce that Mike Sherman has just been extended as head coach. I asked, "Is this a good thing"? Crickets.
Anyway, yours was a classy question and comment.

I saved the sports page NO PACKING IT IN it has Eddie Kennison with the game winning catch on his back and Tony Gonzalez celebrate. Packer DB 21 on his knees.

I loved that game

That game still hurts today. At least you guys are s team we don't hate so that eases the pain.

Since that game, Green Bay has had as many Super Bowl wins as KC has had in playoff wins.

I'd hope that one regular season loss 14 years ago doesn't hurt that much..

Nah. GB isn't an unlikable franchise and fanbase considering it's still technically "community owned" and is centered in the smallest NFL municipality.

They're the model for how things should be in a football team not being the plaything of a billionaire.
