That's about right.

Old CPU.
Mobo 3 generations out of date.
Small SSD.
NO GPU?

No offense shogun but without a gpu and with non vr -ready components it's not really a gaming rig.

Buck 11-12-2017 05:06 PM

No GPU for 900? Good luck.

Minimum. $500 seems more like the starting point especially if you want to vr.

You're not getting anywhere close to 900....

Maybe 300 MAX

A lot of the stuff you list is EOL, DDR3 mobo eek.

**** VR. A 1060/970 is plenty for most games right now. I ruin a 970 still and i have no problem with any game these days. They all run perfectly fine.

kcxiv 11-12-2017 10:28 PM

Basically your computer on the brand new Coffee Lake chipset for $50 more. You are asking for new retail on 3+ year old tech.

I wouldnt even be asking $900 if you literally threw in all the peripherals. For the entire package I would probably sell it for anything in the $600-650 range.

I hope shogun didn't take it that way. Nobody here meant any harm.

TambaBerry 11-13-2017 09:38 PM

It does suck though, all this stuff you spend a lot of money isn't worth jack shit after a couple years. I just dropped 1800 on a new computer in August and it's probably already cheaper than that.

Buy used. 6 mos - 1 yr. Someone is always selling one somewhere. Just don't look to buy one off CP... I hear they're overpriced.

That's why you build your own. You replace outdated components individually instead of having to toss the whole thing. You'll never have an obsolete computer again.

I was replacing a 6 year old PC, I had to get a new CPU which required a new motherboard, which required a new set of DDR4 ram, at that point I needed a new PSU because id rather protect it with a brand new one than a 6 year old one. Video card, and the cpu I got wouldn't run on windows 7 anymore so I got a new SSD. by the time it was all said and done it was easier to buy all new then replace anything.
