Best cup of coffee or coffee "drink" in kc.

I'll start

The wake-up call from the roasterie kicks everything else's nuts up in their throats.

In58men 07-09-2017 02:02 PM

I'm sure I'll get heat for this, but venti ice coffee with white mocha and cream from Starbucks. I don't like any other coffee besides this one. Hot regular coffee is terrible.

R8RFAN 07-09-2017 02:05 PM

McDonalds coffee is pretty good

Always no classic lol. When I have a sweet tooth I'll add 2-3 pumps of toffee nut :D

Had coffee at some place on Main St called Oddly Correct when I visited KC last fall. The coffee was pretty good, but they only serve black coffee and don't provide cream, sugar or anything else to put in your coffee.

Anything made with a French Press is always good, even if it's the Starbucks clover machine.

We are a little snooty here in NWA about our coffee, because we have one of the top roasters in the world based here (Onyx Coffee Labs). Their baristas win national competitions consistently. They have all kinds of insane things they make and daily specials, but I generally just do either speedball (two shots of espresso in coffee) or cold brew in the summertime if I'm not just getting a kalita wave pourover.

I do also like a Bully (nitro cold brew mixed with coconut water) on occasion. Here's the interior of Onyx in Bentonville. It's pretty insane:

Black coffee from just about anywhere.

Here's an article about the success of the staff and owners this year on the competition scene:

Quote:

Mark Michaelson of Onyx Coffee Lab had just won the US Coffee Roasting Championship. Andrea Allen of Onyx Coffee Lab was a prohibitive favorite to win—or at very least place high—in the finals at the US Barista Championship. And in the middle of it all, a third Onyx competitor stepped up to put Arkansas on the coffee map in a huge way at this year’s US Coffee Champs events in Seattle. He is Dylan Siemens, and he is your 2017 US Brewers Cup Champion.

I make my own, so I don't really go to coffee shops.

I'm partial to beans from Kona and Ethiopia. Not so hot on Guatemalan or Colombian coffees for whatever reason.

I'm not a big coffee drinker, but the coffee game around here is interesting to watch. It's almost mirroring craft beer culture with the scarcity marketing, "limited" edition blends, collaborations with musical acts, and even packaging in 4-pk cans with commissioned can artwork. I do a lot of hard to explain shit and spend an exorbitant amount of money on beer, so I try not to judge anyone else on their vices. People love them some coffee or coffee based products. Dark Matter Coffee puts on my favorite beer event of the year.

Coffee is a fruit. Has anti-oxidants. It's not a vice. It's doing a body good.

Kombucha is on a similar trajectory around here, with most bars and coffehouses having an artisan kombucha on tap.

Kumbucha is a step too far even for me. Moldy tea? No thanks. Tried to wrap my head around it, and I think I have my exotic foodstuff bona fides.

More likely to take a stab off getting drunk off Mongolian fermented horse milk, or attend a postpartum placenta fry, than gulp down some Kumbucha.

I bought some two weeks ago at my organic supermarket, because the lady in front of me at the checkout said her kids liked it—if it was a certain two flavors. So I went back and got me a bottle.

Holy hell! :Lin:

Never again. What a waste of $3.50.

Bentonville is really going crazy in the national spotlight right now (admittedly because a lot of the publicity is paid for by the Walton family and other interest groups). Here's just a few of their recent press accolades:
Quote:

BENTONVILLE

National Geographic in May 2017 selected Bentonville as one of America's 20 Best Mountain Bike Towns. Mountain bike trails at Slaughter Pen in Bentonville, Lake Atalanta in Rogers and Mount Kessler in Fayetteville were mentioned as part of the recognition on National Geographic's website.

Thrillist in May 2016 put Bentonville in its list of "25 Best Small U.S. Cities to spend the weekend." Thrillist is a website focused on food, drink and travel.

Outside Magazine in March 2016 ranked Bentonville on its list of "28 Best Trips of 2016," noting the region's growing interest in and places for mountain biking.

Yahoo! Travel in June 2015 has identified Bentonville as one of 10 Newest Hipster Neighborhoods. According to Yahoo! Travel, great things are happening in some relatively unknown neighborhoods across the U.S. The opening of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, 21c Museum Hotel, Scott Family Amazeum and the recent Bentonville Film Festival attended by many of Hollywood's royalty, has identified Bentonville as a hub for art and culture.

As the only destination in the United States in its Hottest Travel Destination for 2012, Travel + Leisure recognized Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art as “an audacious gamble that a large-scale arts institution can thrive in the Ozarks.” And, remember that this recognition came before the completion of the Razorback Regional Greenway trail, before the opening of the Walmart AMP outdoor music venue and before the region had the Amazeum children's museum.

In its 12 Places to Visit in 2012, The Los Angeles Times noted that the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art has a collection that spans colonial works to contemporary pieces, including Norman Rockwell’s “Rosie the Riveter” and Andy Warhol’s “Dolly Parton.”

Kombucha is delicious. We just make our own at home and flavor it with whatever we want. I really don't see how it's any different than any fermented beverage, beer or wine included. Put sugar in a drink, add yeast, get bubbles and (in kombucha's case, a minor amount of) booze.

Coffee sucks. I drink this shit. No taurine. Still tons of garbage, but a little different ingredients than most energy drinks. COQ10, super creatine, 300 mg of caffeine. Gets you absolutely amped up.
