I nominate Dane. Just to piss off Clay. ROFL

Hammock Parties 06-22-2017 07:11 PM

Give Herm a call.

I nominate ChiefsPlanet to govern by referendum. Surely we will win 10 straight Super Bowls.

eDave 06-22-2017 07:12 PM

There's a few here who think they can do a better job. Bring them in for a look.

Elliot Wolfe would be a fantastic replacement.

I'm simply saying who would be a good replacement. Yeah they will probably promote within and it won't be the best choice.

Clark is going to channel his inner Jerry Jones and name himself GM.

Rain Man 06-22-2017 07:50 PM

The only thing we know for sure is that the replacement won't be as good as Dorsey and will be far better than Elway.

And hire Haley back.

I don't give a **** what anybody says, Haley didn't have any say in this team and he's a damn good coach. He was given chicken shit players. I'd give him a second chance.

Black Bob 06-22-2017 08:07 PM

Lake Dawson makes sense. He has worked his way up the personnel chain and has a history with KC. He's got 20 years of NFL personnel experience.

I bet he gets an interview.

I'll agree to an extent. Haley was eager to get his 1st HC job so he was going to agree to anything. At that time it was Pioli would tell him how it is. Haley went to the playoffs with Matt Cassel. That says something. He was a bit of a hot head for the position at the time. That didn't help him at all. That being said, if he had Smith instead of Cassel he might still be here.

Black Bob 06-22-2017 08:15 PM

If he can't win a SB with Rothlesberger, why in the hell do you think he could win one with Alex?

Damn good point.

However, OC is not the same thing HC.

penbrook 06-22-2017 08:23 PM

Haley is the reason why Derrick Johnson is a beast now.

Mr_Tomahawk 06-22-2017 08:25 PM

So Veach is the obvious front runner.

Would everyone be fine with that?

Discuss Thrower 06-22-2017 08:25 PM

Haley very well is likely as poor of a HC as he demonstrated himself to be in Kansas City. The only thing that casts doubt on this is the fact that he clearly was forced into Cassel.

With regards to the OP, the next GM will be a Howie Roseman type who does nothing more than figure out contract financing.

I don't want to be forward, but per my analysis here http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...light=saturday I would be a top-five GM in terms of talent acquisition. I've proven it over the past seven years.

I think it's ridiculous that Haley isn't a HC somewhere.

He's gonna be a good on when he gets another chance.

Red Dawg 06-22-2017 09:45 PM

I would be stunned if it's not a person Andy knows. Veech will probably get it but they if reach out to other teams for a guy that's ready to be promoted it would be very surprising if it wasn't an Andy buddy.

Who will be the Kansas City Chiefs next GM?

Who will be the Kansas City Chiefs next GM? that’s the question you’re asking after you get over the shock of the news that John Dorsey is out as the GM of the Chiefs. The Chiefs made the new official this afternoon with nothing else like who would replace him.

A few early names:

Let’s talk about this Dorsey thing

WHAT IS GOING ON?

Andy Reid: Yeah, I said it. He’s done it before in Philly. However, Reid has said in Kansas City that he enjoys being just the coach and not the front office guy. Was that just talk or what? UPDATE: Sam says this isn’t happening

Brett Veach: He works in the Chiefs front office now and was reportedly up for the Bills GM job. He seems like an obvious internal candidate. Also has ties to Andy Reid.

Mike Borgonzi: Like Veach, he’s in the front office now. This would be an internal promotion. Field Yates mentioned him.

Chris Ballard: Oops. He’s the Colts GM now. This is why it’s hard to believe the Chiefs had been planning this for a while. They just let Ballard, a very talented personnel guy, leave for the Colts earlier this year.

Someone else connected to Andy Reid: Who? I’m not sure but it’s the NFL so it’s all about connections. Tom Heckert was a name that was thrown around when Dorsey was hired in 2013.

The Chiefs job should be a good one, a very good one. The Chiefs roster is in good shape, Andy Reid is one of the best coaches in the NFL and they have a young quarterback.

I would worry that his tendency to stab rookies would be a problem in that role.

I don't know that this will be viewed as such a prime opening. We don't have a first rounder next year, have a new unproven QB that some one else picked and the owner approves of, and the owner may fire you without any warning during the middle of the offseason when no jobs are available. Our next GM is going to be unproven and probably be on a very short leash in terms of independent authority.

I've always liked Eric DeCosta of the Ravens but they're not letting him go. He's the successor for Newsome. They're doing what the Chiefs should've done with Ballard.
