GO MF'ING CHICKEN GO!!!!
One of my favorite foods is chicken tenders. But only if they're done right. I like em big, fresh, hot tender and juicy. I have to give major props to a chicken joint on the Kansas side called GO CHICKEN GO. Stopped there on the way back from Olathe tonight. I"ve only been there one other time and that was a couple years ago. Their three piece chicken tenders meal is only around 8 bucks. The tenders are HUUUUGE, and fresh and juicy and just plain wonderful. The sides are OK, nothing outstanding, but the chicken RULES. And they make this stuff called G Sauce that is a funky dipping sauce. It's hard to describe, it's like salsa for chicken strips. It's hot but not stupid hot. It would also be great on scrambled eggs or over a chicken burrito. GO CHICKEN GO should go more over towards Eastern Jackson County. They'd kick KFC's ass, and would give Stroud's a run for their money on chicken tenders. I've had Gus' Famous Chicken Tenders too, and Go Chicken Go kicks their ass all over the parking lot. Go....Chicken.....GO. Any of you CPers fans?

I love Go Chicken Go.
|
My cousin is the manager of the one on 7th.
Their gizzards are ****ing awesome too. |
That looks pretty good, I gotta say. And they have gravy. Add some deep fried mushrooms for added lovability.
Will eat here next trip to KC. Thanks Gman. |
And it's just g sauce. I keep a bottle around all the time.
|
I'm in Louisiana. We got Canes, bro.
|
I have a Go Chicken Go! within about 3 blocks of my office. Only place I've eaten gizzards...

I used to go to the one on Troost in the mid 2000's. I forgot they were still in business. I will be there tomorrow for dinner.
|
i can taste the gizzards, g sauce, and buttered roll with mash and gravy from 6000 miles away. im having my brother bring some sauce with him when he and his wife visit for their honeymoon.
first time i ever had them was on 7th street while doing a roof. moved to the one in olathe for a bit, then moved near the state avenue one. sauto: can you get your cousin to tell me if they use sriracha sauce in the g sauce. cause i cant taste a hint of g sauce in my sriracha here ROFL |

So, what say you? You had both? Last time at LoLo's, the waitress asked me what two pieces I would like. I sheepishly asked if I could have two breasts. She said "sure!" That was awesome. |

I didn't know that until weeks ago either. Looked them up and they are everywhere. And no, I've never had either....... |
My sister & friend designed a restaurant, art work, & marketing campaign. The name was Go Chicken Go.
This was about 1980 when they were in HS. In their restaurant, you had to catch your own live chicken which they would then cook fresh for your dining pleasure. I am sure the new version is better than their concept would have been. |

|
we've gone to the kck go chicken go for going on 30 years now (all the way from far northeastern jackson county)...
i'm a livers guy and theirs have always been the best because they don't cook the shit out of them and they are moist and tender, like they should be... however, my last two orders of livers have been disconcertingly overdone... i thought perhaps they'd changed hands or something... jason, could ask your fam if they changed their recipe or something? i was totally absolutely floored not to get the usual perfect livers, twice in a row... |
Los Pollos Hermanos ftw
|
Go chicken is the bomb. Been a fan since the mid 70z, they never disappoint.
7th street is the only one I've tried. Livers are outstanding. |

I've heard it recommended that you only go there while it's still light out, though. Lol. |
I probably favor heading a couple hours SW to try Bartos - but GcG is on my list!

A mixed snack with 6 wings was my late night go-to at Go Chicken Go when I lived near the one on Troost. I think the gravy on their mashed potatoes is their only weak spot. |

1/2 and 1/2 gizzards and livers FTW.

I used to live in Olathe for 5 years. Never ate at this place. Went there today because of this thread and got the chicken strips. Chicken was very good, but this place has really really bad sides. Roll was meh and the mashed potatoes were about the worst I've ever had. Just absolutely disgusting. No fries.

full order gizzards, g sauce, mash/gravy, two extra rolls. dip the gizzards in the sauce or mash. make a gizzard sammich with the rolls :) |
Poor sides is blasphemy

Next time you are in Olathe try Strips on 135th street just a couple miles west of I-35. It's pretty good stuff. I've had Go Chicken Go regular chicken, but not their strips, so I can't compare them.

I have only been to the 51st & Troost location, which used to be a Brown's Chicken. I grew up just a few blocks from there, just east of Paseo, near the high school.

It's not close so it's been a while, but I'd 100% do it again. But right now, I've gotta try this Go Chicken Go place... |
Raising Canes is garbage

I can only remember ever eating gizzards there, and I lived in Olathe 2 minutes from that place on Harrison. I'm surprised it never grew more and expanded. I wish it had expanded...right down to Tulsa OK so I can get some god damn gizzards with hot sauce.

The cole slaw was very good. The portions on the sides are small, but the chicken makes up for that. You certainly won't walk away hungry after eating a three strip box. Stroud's mashed potatoes with chicken gravy are still the top of the mark. Their gravy is the stuff of legend. Stroud's serves all their stuff family style, so you can eat mashed potatoes till you literally don't want any more. And their cinnamon rolls are awesome too. It's kinda two different worlds though. Go Chicken Go is a drive thru carry out place, and Stroud's is a sit down restaurant and bar. As far as a drive thru chicken joint, Go Chicken Go kicks much ass. The only thing even close is a place called Slim Chickens, a chain joint out by the Bass Pro in Independence. It's OK, but pricey and not as good. I don't eat gizzards or livers, so I can't speak to those. I know Stroud's serves them too. I used to get regular cut up chicken pieces at Strouds, but I think you get better quality chicken, and more of it, in the chicken strips. And no bones or skin to deal with either. |
