Emotional/loyalty pick, or do you have some inside scoop?

alpha_omega 01-15-2017 10:39 AM

Damn. That NASCAR offseason doesn't last very long.

I'm not sure there really is for the teams. Like other sports, these folks may take a vacation during the off-season, but it's not any longer than a couple of weeks, then it's back to work.

No inside scoop, I just think he has the best equipment and I think he is a very good driver, he has the temperament to win as well.

Well good luck to him then... Lord knows HMS has great equipment, so he should never be left wanting for ponies or a decent race-day setup.

Donger 01-15-2017 02:28 PM

Hamilton will regain the title after having it stolen from him last year.

Demonpenz 01-15-2017 02:34 PM

Dale Earnhardt Jr. retires after this year to focus on business.

Today could be fun. Hockey and racing, WOOT!!!

In58men 02-26-2017 10:48 AM

I'm bummed about Edwards, not going to be the same. This year I'm rooting for Logano & Hamlin (family bets we make all season based on two driver) and Erik Jones.

Dylan 02-26-2017 12:46 PM

What's up with the cheesy music during driver introductions? hahaha

TrebMaxx 02-26-2017 01:13 PM

I am done. The latest rules change did me in. You guys enjoy it though.

Hamlin is a big favorite of mine

Erik Jones is interesting - He won the NASCAR Truck Series last season - mostly sure.

Dylan 02-26-2017 03:16 PM

****ing tire = I think - Did someone hit 18 from behind????????????????????? Not sure

MFer! WTF happened

Talentless Hack

Dylan 02-26-2017 03:18 PM

oh hush, you

When did your guy ever win a NASCAR championship?

Never :D

Home from Hockey, and caught up on the DVR.

I LOVE the new format. It's really nice to see a race like this one where more than the last 10 laps matter.

I've ALWAYS thought every lap should matter, and the only way to do that is to award some sort of points per lap lead. You simply have to give the drivers incentive to not only with the race, but to win every lap, and this is a step in that direction.

If it ends up where I'd like it the race winner would get 500 points, and each lap would result in what amounts to a fraction that, when added up, would total 450 points. Then, the person with leads the most laps gets 50 bonus points.

So 1,000 points are awarded each race, with the theoretical maximum a driver could earn being all 1,000 points. But realistically nobody would ever get 100% of the points. But every lap would matter, and racers have a good reason to race for the lead every lap.

I'm stunned he didn't suggest he might try running on Hoosier tires next year. Just to piss-off NASCAR and Goodyear. But he sure did take a swing at them.

I'm sure Goodyear will suggest he run a different setup (maybe a little less camber!) so he's like the other drivers and not chewing through tires like Fat Bastard through doughnuts...

You're right though. It's not a Goodyear problem, it's a set up problem. Teams (rightfully) push the limits to get the most out of the car, but you can't pass that buck on to the tire maker and bitch about them, he should be bitching at the too aggressive set up and not crying about the tires.

Agreed...Thanks for explaining the new rules.

American tires are behind the (motor racing) times compared to F1...

Kman34 02-26-2017 03:38 PM

Jr has bad luck in the 500....

kstater 02-26-2017 03:44 PM

With regards to the clock on repairs, I like the idea. I think they should tweak it to 5 minutes each time down pit road with a 10 or 15 minute max for the race. 5 minutes for the race is too short IMO.

Dylan 02-26-2017 03:54 PM

According to DW, Elliott Sadler dominated the entire race on Saturday when someone wrecked him at the very end.

However, under the new format, Sadler was able to walk away with some points instead of no points.

Dylan 02-26-2017 04:04 PM

Just to show you how behind the curve Goodyear tires have been in NASCAR - Why not use tire warmer blankets that is wrapped around racing tires before they are fitted to the car so that they will start closer to their optimum operating temperature as per Pirelli tires uses in Formula 1?

It does not take a rocket scientist to do that...

You race on Sunday to sell on Monday

Dylan 02-26-2017 04:07 PM

Uh oh...What happened? I got up for a minute

Who is left?

All the top cars out of the race? ...

Guess they can join #18 & #88 by sitting on the couch watching the end of the race from their motor home...

LMAO Daytona chews up cars and spits them out like no other track except 'Dega.

Edit: Jamie or #37 takes out 16 cars...Think #37 might have gotten in the back of the #6 who in turn got in the back of the #48

GloryDayz 02-26-2017 04:14 PM

I think Jimmie will be professional, but he got turned by contact as far as I could tell.

Nascar doesn't allow the heat blankets, that's not a Goodyear thing.

And F1 has been trying to get rid of them for years, but the drivers are too big of pussies to do so.

GloryDayz 02-26-2017 04:23 PM

NASCAR has some work to do... Like Jeff's saying, there's no reason for racing like this at this stage of the race. Let's wait until the last 15 laps to wreck!

Thanks Ecclestone - But F1 teams have vetoed that idea for years...

I raced the hell out of that game. The real fun was racing online with peeps from all over the world. My wheel broke and I didn't feel like throwing $300.00 at another. I really miss my NASCAR simulator though. I had that game running through my big screen with my wheel mounted on a table sitting right in front of the TV. Had the sound running through my surround sound too. I'd rattle the pictures on the walls. I haven't checked lately but I used to race on WWW.OpenSpeedway.com. Those guys are probably still there doing it though. How many games last for over 10 years? Jr and M. Waltrip used to run that game and some other real drivers too. Shit I may have to buck up for a new wheel now.

KCTitus 02-27-2017 08:11 AM

This was the first restrictor plate race I have watched all the way through in nearly 10 years. I stopped watching Talladega altogether, but would typically watch some Daytona...

With the stages, it made for varying strategies and it wasnt single line racing up against the wall for 198 laps and a crash at 199.

I think Nascar's onto something...at least it made this race interesting.

I like it, just don't understand why they feel the need to throw a caution after every stage. Reminds me of heat racing.

Yeah, didnt really like that...after stage 1, they did 8 caution laps...for what? 8 caution laps? at 2.5mi per lap that's 20 miles of caution. They need to fix that or if they continue down that road, not count those laps.

Agree, they need to end that aspect of it moving forward.

They they need to go to my point system and know that it's the best idea ever!

KC native 02-27-2017 10:26 AM

The Sauber and Haas liveries are my favorites in F1 this year.

I think we'll see a little bit of a shake up on Mercedes dominance this year but Mercedes will still win the constructor's championship by a healthy margin.

KCTitus 02-27-2017 12:04 PM

I read that the new 2017 F1 cars are going to be harder to overtake...the last thing F1 needs is less on track passing.

They have new mods for it and it still plays and runs better than sht for ps4. I just raced online through sierra and grand prix legends. I got the G27 logetech with add on shifter. It is an expensive toy. If I had some more money I would get a nice thrustmaster with ability to switch wheels so aren't running wheel for F1 and you can have a f1 wheel for f1

Demonpenz 03-12-2017 03:11 PM

there is a thing called iracing which is the thing to do now in sim racing.
