Since my boy Jimmie Johnson has begun putting rings on his other hand, And Dylan's now retired guy Nico won it all on the F1 stage, let's get the 2017 racing season started with a tribute to their awesomeness...

Today could be fun. Hockey and racing, WOOT!!!
|
I'm bummed about Edwards, not going to be the same. This year I'm rooting for Logano & Hamlin (family bets we make all season based on two driver) and Erik Jones.
|
What's up with the cheesy music during driver introductions? hahaha
|
I am done. The latest rules change did me in. You guys enjoy it though.

I have to catch up... |

Erik Jones is interesting - He won the NASCAR Truck Series last season - mostly sure. |
****ing tire = I think - Did someone hit 18 from behind????????????????????? Not sure
MFer! WTF happened Edit: "Right rear went down" Son of a bitch |
Talentless Hack
|
oh hush, you
When did your guy ever win a NASCAR championship? Never :D case closed |
Home from Hockey, and caught up on the DVR.
I LOVE the new format. It's really nice to see a race like this one where more than the last 10 laps matter. I've ALWAYS thought every lap should matter, and the only way to do that is to award some sort of points per lap lead. You simply have to give the drivers incentive to not only with the race, but to win every lap, and this is a step in that direction. If it ends up where I'd like it the race winner would get 500 points, and each lap would result in what amounts to a fraction that, when added up, would total 450 points. Then, the person with leads the most laps gets 50 bonus points. So 1,000 points are awarded each race, with the theoretical maximum a driver could earn being all 1,000 points. But realistically nobody would ever get 100% of the points. But every lap would matter, and racers have a good reason to race for the lead every lap. |

I'm sure Goodyear will suggest he run a different setup (maybe a little less camber!) so he's like the other drivers and not chewing through tires like Fat Bastard through doughnuts... |

American tires are behind the (motor racing) times compared to F1... |
Jr has bad luck in the 500....
|
With regards to the clock on repairs, I like the idea. I think they should tweak it to 5 minutes each time down pit road with a 10 or 15 minute max for the race. 5 minutes for the race is too short IMO.
|
According to DW, Elliott Sadler dominated the entire race on Saturday when someone wrecked him at the very end.
However, under the new format, Sadler was able to walk away with some points instead of no points. |
Just to show you how behind the curve Goodyear tires have been in NASCAR - Why not use tire warmer blankets that is wrapped around racing tires before they are fitted to the car so that they will start closer to their optimum operating temperature as per Pirelli tires uses in Formula 1?
It does not take a rocket scientist to do that... You race on Sunday to sell on Monday |
Uh oh...What happened? I got up for a minute
Who is left? All the top cars out of the race? ... Guess they can join #18 & #88 by sitting on the couch watching the end of the race from their motor home... LMAO Daytona chews up cars and spits them out like no other track except 'Dega. Edit: Jamie or #37 takes out 16 cars...Think #37 might have gotten in the back of the #6 who in turn got in the back of the #48 |
I think Jimmie will be professional, but he got turned by contact as far as I could tell.

Not going to be many finishing this race with the 5 minute rule. |
This is ridiculous. Nearly unwatchable.
|
Jeffrey Earnhardt? into the 6 into the 17 in front
|

And F1 has been trying to get rid of them for years, but the drivers are too big of pussies to do so. |
NASCAR has some work to do... Like Jeff's saying, there's no reason for racing like this at this stage of the race. Let's wait until the last 15 laps to wreck!

chaos on the track Three wide LMAO |
This is like Martinsville, or Bristol, at 200mph..

This isn't a 350 mile race

Damn, at this point the last 2 cars standing are going to tangle up on the last lap and not be able to finish.

Since Jr done took his lumps, I want to see Waltrip get this thing!
Don't see it happening unless the field continues to take itself out. |
Why are they running commercials, didn't they get them all in during the wrecks?
|
Can the kid do it?
|
Balls right there!
|
This finish should be fun
|
Wow...go Larson
|
Holy Molly - Kurt Busch came from out of nowhere
Yes!!!!!!!!!!! Great racer! He can wheel a car & congrats to Tony Gibson |
Nice drive Kurt Busch.. Smart!
|
Oh,
**** FORD!!! |
Why did he point to the back third of the car to his crew member there?
|
I would be so pissed if I ran out of gas leading at the end... would probably punch someone....

To think about Tony Stewart's love for racing Chevys and his driver wins the Daytona 500 with a switch this season to Fords.
Hey Bug, your team owner did good. :D |

This was the first restrictor plate race I have watched all the way through in nearly 10 years. I stopped watching Talladega altogether, but would typically watch some Daytona...
With the stages, it made for varying strategies and it wasnt single line racing up against the wall for 198 laps and a crash at 199. I think Nascar's onto something...at least it made this race interesting. |

The Sauber and Haas liveries are my favorites in F1 this year.
I think we'll see a little bit of a shake up on Mercedes dominance this year but Mercedes will still win the constructor's championship by a healthy margin. |
I read that the new 2017 F1 cars are going to be harder to overtake...the last thing F1 needs is less on track passing.

Bye, Bye Harvick -
