He's fought that knee for 2 weeks now and was said to be dealing with it during the bye. If they keep sending him out there, they're going to keep having to pull him in-game all season.

Sit him and get it right. It's easier to gameplan around a CB that you know will be a weakness than one you think might be a strength....until the 2nd half when you lose him again.

Yep, that's what I've been saying. The Chiefs will be better if he's healthy for the final 5 games of the season, most of which are divisional games, and the playoffs.

While Tampa, N.O., Carolina and Indy games matter, the Chiefs need to win the division this year.

In all reality, we don't need him to be back till Carolina.

We will win the next 3 games with or without Houston out there, but it would be nice to set him loose on Jacksonville in the second half to get him warmed up and ready to dismantle Carolina.

He's getting paid big money to play, you don't sit him because you're worried he might get hurt again. If the doctors, coaches and Houston himself say he's ready, then he's ready. He could get hurt during any game. We need him this week, Saints are not bad on offense. Raiders have Jags and should win. We need all the help we can get right now.

Actually, the fact that he's being paid such big money is the main reason we should hold him out until we're absolutely certain his knee is entirely healed.

Imagine if he re-injured the ACL. He could be lost for another year or more. We have too much invested him to jeopardize his long-term potential.

Welcome to CP, where 75% (may be too low) of members believe they are smarter than every NFL head coach. In reality, 99% of those 75% couldn't adequately coach a high school team, let alone an NFL team.

I disagree, especially when all 3 parties agreed that he's ready. It's not ideal to start him mid November. I don't see the logic in that.

He probably won't.

But I'd suit him up. Even having the possibility of sending him out there would be something the Saints would have to worry about, especially in obvious passing downs.

If he's physically sound (and you'd have to believe he is if he's cleared for contact), there's no reason not to work him in slowly. The worry would be if it became a situation like we're facing with Gaines where the knee is just in a constant state of aggravated.

I'd let him come in on pass rushing downs and just his appearance would make them gameplay for him. If he's ready and cleared then play him. But I don't want to rush him back and have a Gaines situation where his knee flares up and has issues.

I'm all about this, he needs to feel 110% in practice before playing again... the younger guys will just have to grow up a little bit quicker

Pretty much feel the same with Houston... sure, suit him up this week as a threat... but he has been gone a while, it really seems best to let him ease that creaky thing back into motion in practice, regardless of the medically cleared designation IMO

We've weathered one of the toughest parts of the storm without him, so theres no point in rushing him back in there only to have him tweak it ala Gaines

Then again, he was a decoy against Houston and it was obvious real quickly that he didn't mean much out there.

O.city 10-19-2016 04:22 PM

Well, when he does come back game wise, they're gonna have him on a pitch count similar to Charles I'd imagine.

I wonder if the hope is, by say, the first Bronco game have him going full bore? Whats that, about a month?

RunKC 10-19-2016 04:30 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Houston didn't play until the end of November seeing how cautious Andy is.
He held Morse out for weeks bc of a concussion and Gaines was apparently capable of playing last week but a slightly sore knee during the week is holding him out.

What constitutes "practice" for him at this point anyway? Stretching? Warm ups? Individual drills? Full contact?

pugsnotdrugs19 10-19-2016 04:59 PM

I saw a video today of him running through a drill with the OLBs where they were shucking one of the individual weighted dummies, and lets just say he made Frank Zombo's strength and power look like that of a high schooler.

They went back to back, Zombo barely got the thing lifted a handful of inches off the ground, Houston comes up and blows it up about a foot and half.

Justin Houston is a ****ing triceratops ROFL he's a monster man.

Oh, man. Padded up and breaking down?

I'm sure he's not in game shape but that man should be playing in a few weeks, for sure.
